And have you actually tried all those rifles yourself to come to that conclusion or did you watch a few Youtube videos saying how crap it was and go with the flow

Yep, thanks to the poor performance of the A1 version there's a stigma around the whole L85/L86 family that they can't seem to escape no matter how good they've become in the years since, thanks in no small part to the idiotic herd of commenters on here, bashing on them like seasoned experts in all things firearms without the slightest clue what they're really talking about

Not sure about that but it's certainly a lot better (in it's modern A2/A3 form) than it's given credit for

And you're such a badass gun expert that you've actually tried out both yourself for real before coming to that conclusion I suppose?

Well yes, that's true, and?

Oh, you mean the H&K that was BRITISH OWNED at the time? :)

Who were you replying to there? Youtube's reply thing's weird

Also unlike previous British rifles it was originally designed by a bureaucratic committee rather than the very gun-experts to which we both refer so it could actually have been a lot WORSE rather than better to start with. By contrast the EM2 rifle of 1949 that inspired it and WAS also British-made and a Bullpup, but created by people who really knew what they were doing was a fantastic weapon based around a superior intermediate round to the 7.62, only not taken into service instead of the SLR due to political strong-arming of NATO by the Americans behind the scenes

True but when the deal was originally agreed to they were UK-owned

Matsimus has talked about this himself if you haven't seen that vid of his by the way, completely agree with everything he says on the matter myself: https://youtu.be/Ln0pe7xmcIY

Never said it did, but one version being so problematic doesn't mean the entire family of rifles should be tarred with the same brush, nor does it having serious issues mean it was completely useless even in A1 form, it was still a modern assault rifle firing 5.56 NATO after all and the soldiers in the first Gulf War still succeeded in putting them to good use, sand, broken parts, dodgy magazines and all and to this day it works well enough as a cadet training rifle

Yeah to be fair you did just say 'A1' in your own comment didn't you, just scrolled up and looked again, my bad, sorry for lecturing you then. Just too used to people lumping all the SA80 variants together as universally crap
