Jerold Productions we do have armoured ones you know along with many kinds of heavier combat vehicles, these ones in the video aren't supposed to be on the front lines, except possibly the ambulance and recon ones and they're optimised (comparatively) for speed and lightness

Wren Tamayo well they're not pink anymore and the old ones in the video weren't either, I know some desert recon versions used to be but it's kinda time to move on

xu da no, no it isn't, bigger and uglier doesn't always mean better
4
My Entropy well the HumVee the Americans use is bigger, heavier, more heavily armoured and enclosed rather than open-topped and I don't seem to remember them faring that much better against IED's
4
Entitledprick borrow a torpedo from the navy before heading out just in case maybe? :P
3
Qak Qakason nah the desert camo of the light reconnaissance versions of this used to have a very pink hue to it, Google 'pink army rover'
3
Wren Tamayo they were indeed affectionately nicknamed that :) and the Vietnam Special when they decided to spray Hammond's bike pink wasn't it?

Samuel Rudy and YOU look up what the later versions of JEEP were inspired by. Just because the original Willy's Jeep came first doesn't mean all later versions of Land Rover were copies of Jeep designs, quite the opposite in fact, in Britain we only buy Jeeps if we can't find a local Land Rover dealership lol
3
Cartoonman154 one more reason to leave the buggers behind and go our own way again
3
Adrian Owen yeah and you could buy four Land Rovers that are just as good if not better off-road for the same price
2
Qak Qakason the SAS in particular used to be famous for using them

Samuel Rudy not better than a second or third-hand Defender in decent condition though and you can get one of them cheaper than any Jeep or new Land Rover in Britain I promise you that, and one of these in good condition will get you through, over or out-of just about anything. I've seen tractors, TRACTORS get stuck in the past and they used one of THESE to come to the rescue

Samuel Rudy hell in the Top Gear Bolivia special Clarkson uses an original Range Rover, by far the worst car that company has ever produced to get him through every form of terrain South America had to throw at him- and it DID, not very elegantly and not without needing a lot of nursing and maintenance but it made it, and that was a by then forty-year-old, rusty, malfunctioning underpowered piece of crap designed not so much to 'climb every mountain and ford every stream' as to sell to those who wanted to buy into the rugged outdoor lifestyle while still swathed in luxury (remind you of a certain American car-brand?)

unleecensedminky oh of course, it was basically a British version of it made to appeal not only to the military but the civilian market and farmers and rural-living people in particular, I'm in no way denying that, but what I DO take issue with is the idea that they're ALL just copies of Jeep designs or that this somehow makes them all inferior TO Jeep designs, it could be argued that every modern four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle is a descendant of a copy of that original Jeep but that DOESN'T mean they're not also their own thing and great in their own right, you don't hear Americans saying the same thing about the Toyota Land-Cruiser or Mercedes G-Wagon and we don't claim every tank design made since 1917 is just a copy of British ones because we invented it
1
Feat Light297 nah I think you'll find our tanks are the tanks of our army :p is a great vehicle in it's own right though
1
Matt Westall maybe not but they weren't exactly designed FOR the purposes they were put to out there
