edmundscycles1 yeah the BV or Boiling Vessel, without which England would fall and most likely the free world with it lol

James Hunter because we invented the language and we get to say how the words are spelled before you ignorant sods get to butcher them
6
Ethan Thomson グミ they'd still be able to knock out most more reliable tanks with that gun and take a lot of the return fire with that armour though. The engine was it's Achilles Heel true but that was the only major problem it DID have
5
iatsd it wasn't THAT bad, was pretty bad I grant you but not THAT bad
3
ARandomYoutuber yeah the Challenger 1 and 2 were newer and better so they replaced it but it's still a fantastic beast of a machine in it's own right, just needed a better engine
3
4 Tonnes of Fury you're clearly not aware of the stuff we were making in the 20's, 30's and at the start of the war then. And APART from the engine which is indeed a very poor design and which we'll readily admit, what else is so bad about it? We've made far worse in the past and other countries have made worse still

Pat Moon he's already discussed it at length in various videos so I don't think he's doing a dedicated vid on it, just type in 'Matsimus - Challenger Tank' into Youtube and all his related stuff should come up

Ziad AL-Abbady under-powered yes but if you think OURS are over-engineered you've clearly never seen a German or American tank

dog11222 if we ever meet let me buy you a drink mate and thankyou for your service to this great nation :)

iatsd if it was that easy to ignore NATO and go your own way back then British forces would've had EM2's while some other armies were still using bolt action rifles
1
tasman006 they had their chance in the Falklands War and Gulf War? Neither side used heavy tanks in the Falklands as the conditions and terrain aren't suitable for them, and in the Gulf War the Chieftains WERE there with Chobham armour added and fought well
1
tasman006 well they were still there and involved then weren't they lol, pretty sure Chieftains with added armour-packs were used in a limited capacity to make up the numbers though

Dreadnought 1 well in real life the question likely would never arise but I'd say Chieftain any day, even if it broke down the armour and gun would STILL give it the edge
1
birthd wt of course I know that it's just doubtful these two would, but if they did, say in the hands of middle eastern countries the chieftain is better armed (120mm rifled to 90 or 105mm smoothbore) and armoured (better sloped steel construction augmented with Chobham armour on later versions). It's also better laid out inside, fires a better AP shell and on later versions is just as good off-road; the only real advantages the M60 would have is speed and engine reliability, but when you're fighting something that can quite happily just sit there and take whatever you throw at it, before promptly swiveling it's turret round to track you and sending out a discarding-fin sabot round at a MILE PER SECOND to easily pierce your armour and make a nasty mess inside it still isn't really much of a contest

Chaz t well I disagree with parts of what you say but I don't think it's worth arguing about, as far as I'm concerned the Chieftain is the superior tank and that's all there is to it
