Professor Ozpin those Ghurkas were and are straight-up part of the British army not mercenaries, they're true soldiers, recruited from Nepal in the Himalayas and part of an ancient people who unlike most of the rest of the old British Empire remain fiercely loyal to the British crown, and they've proven themselves time and time again as some of the deadliest warriors on Earth with a reputation the Argentines were RIGHT to fear. ASMR GentleMan they didn't just "do some good things as well", for all the conquest and bloodshed of those days being in and of itself bad things the British Empire also brought the ideas OF democracy, human rights, freedom of speech and freedom of the press to the world, along with more technological progress and innovation in a shorter space of time than any other nation on the face of the Earth- much of which came into being IN Britain itself, or would never have become the inventions we know without Britain, including the devices and electronic super-highway connecting them we're discussing this on right now. Oh and a little thing called ENDING SLAVERY. I'm not gonna pretend we never did anything wrong as a country, you don't create the largest empire in history that brought modern civilization, for good or ill to the four corners of the globe by being nice and polite about it all the time, despite the stereotype haha; but the GOOD things we did FAR outweigh any bad we DID do in my opinion and that's not ignorance or propaganda, that's my honest feeling DESPITE being well aware of the Empire's darker side

Don't get me wrong the Free Poles DID fight on the British side in many of the same battles though, famously in the Battle Of Britain itself for example there were two full Polish squadrons fighting using British aircraft

  20. shitosusansen not in the mainland they didn't, while the Americans went from tropical island to tropical island the British and Commonwealth forces slogged their way through the South-East Asian mainland countries including Vietnam, Korea, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand and had almost recaptured Burma by the end, the Nationalist Chinese liberated most of their homeland (sadly temporarily) and Russia captured Manchuria

Tha Phenom he didn't 'allow' jack shit, his tank divisions needed to rest, regroup and re-arm after weeks of non-stop fighting and had been held up considerably by a combination of British and French tank units counter-attacking them and, more importantly having left much of their infantry and support units behind in their lightning advances, and those they WERE still in contact with were badly over-stretched; the allied rearguard were also strongly holding their ground and would need a massive push by a combined German force to break through, rather than just the leading tank divisions, and the Dunkirk evacuation was largely complete by the time they were able to assemble such a force and break through

Rage Raptor true but they'd still be professionals and not conscripts, in terms of equipment were actually not that far behind our guys hardware-wise, and together WITH the aforementioned conscripts would outnumber the British forces by at least 5 to 1. Doesn't mean they'd win but it'd also not be as one-sided as the Argies like to make out. As it is when the elite 5th marines, the only professional soldiers on their side that DID fight ours in the conflict, went head-to-head with British paratroopers at Mount Longdon they gave a good account of themselves (they were, after all fighting in good defensive positions, unlike most of the conscripts were well-led, well-supplied, well-equipped and well-motivated and were fighting practically on their own doorstep against an enemy 8000 miles from home), but they were still eventually defeated

Jonathan every one of those cities had thousands of soldiers and Nazi leaders and officials in and around it too, living in barracks, training and on leave; and more importantly many had docks, factories, assembly plants, construction yards, ammunition dumps and oil reservoirs ALSO in and around them, vital to the German war machine, had these not been continually bombed night after night, day after day Nazi Germany could well have been unstoppable. Bomb-sights were not very accurate back then, whether the British were deliberately trying to kill civilians back then or not there would have been no way to bomb military-only targets WITHOUT collateral damage. Also it was hardly only such targets the Germans bombed nor was it only one city, they bombed every major British city within reach and, as they became more desperate toward the end of the war just started lobbing unguided cruise missiles at Britain in general

Well if that's all we're talking about here the Germans started it by 'accidentally' bombing London, ostensibly due to the flight of bombers responsible having gotten lost (although needless to say I find this hard to believe as did the British at the time), despite having previously been forbidden from doing so; the first British bombing raid on Berlin was in direct response to this, which in turn made the enraged Germans start bombing British cities directly- something they had, aside from that one 'accident' not been previously doing but had instead been bombing specifically military targets outside the big cities especially airfields and harbours. Their stopping doing this and instead turning on the civilians not only did nothing to dent the British will to fight on and, in fact made them want vengeance all the more, it was a key reason for the Battle Of Britain being won as it gave the RAF the breathing space they needed
