Great catching a glimpse of good old HMS Victory in the background there (3:48), as if giving a nod to the flagship of today's navy 😊 shame they took off her masts though, spoils her looks

@t8506 oh, so how were we able to build two gigantic aircraft carriers then? Or the destroyers, frigates and submarines we already have? And why is the EU so worried about us leaving next year? YOU wake up, money isn't everything, and Britain's been here over 5000 years and isn't leaving anytime soon

@dudeonyoutube dunno if you noticed but all the crewmen we saw there were white. The Muslims are still very much a minority here, a BIG minority but a minority nonetheless, and in the military even more so; and hopefully with Brexit that's not gonna be changing

This has been disproven several times over

@NuclearWinter2110 so how were we able to build the carrier this video's about then lol?
2
Actually the Chinese carriers, based as they are off old 80's Russian designs have ski-jumps too :) and in their case they NEED the jump because the crappy jet engines their fighters have are too weak to get them off the deck by themselves
2
@helenHTID that and it was handy for the Harrier Jump-Jets we were using at the time, and presumably still will be with their spiritual successor the F35
2
 @Benjd0 yup
2
You mean it looks like something from The Lord Of The Rings lol?
2
@NuclearWinter2110 how do you figure that? This is a completely different looking ship if you haven't noticed, and Britain INVENTED the aircraft carrier and was building them decades before anyone else
2
@NuclearWinter2110 as for meeting up I'm sure she will and she already HAS met up with an American carrier and sailed around with her on maneuvres, USS George W. Bush
2
Andromediens thanks, we're pretty proud of her. Your own carriers are pretty impressive too 😊

(A) that's 1980's technology, things have moved on, no-one uses Excocets anymore and the modern Royal Navy is fully capable of dealing with them if they do; and (B) if you're referencing the Falklands War while we did indeed lose a frigate and a couple of destroyers to them, the carriers never took a scratch
2
@Mr-Ad-196 that wasn't what those idiots were referring to though was it
1
@gavincook196 it could be better I grant you, I wish they'd just made a modern version of the Ark Royal, but it is what it is, plenty of others seem happy with the design and the Royal Navy obviously feels it'll do the job

@paultanton4307 erm yes quite (in even simpler terms). It should have a few more though and perhaps one of those new Dragonfire systems

I never said we DID always know best did I but ok, agreed then

If the F35 turns out to be insufficient just by itself which despite all the naysayers I very much doubt it will, they CAN build more of these ships with American-style angled flight decks in the future, and by the time THOSE ships got to the stage QE is now the new Tempest, the Typhoon's 6th-Gen eventual replacement should start turning up and can be easily adapted with arrestor hooks and such
1
@kevintravis2078 not sure what you're talking about frankly, the Typhoon ended up being a great aircraft with or without the French, they obviously simply thought their actually very similar-looking Dassault Rafale suited their purposes better. As for the naval variant it's a shame we won't get to see how it would've turned out but we still have gotten plenty of use out of the standard land-based one, as has much of the rest of the EU
