  11. In other news, HMS Prince Of Wales is now fully operational, and has not only F35's and helicopters aboard but the option of launching small multi-purpose drones too (primarily for training although I bet they could also be adapted to other purposes)

As for the British and hunting subs with carriers lol the IDEA was that their aircraft and all the assorted escorting destroyers, frigates and corvettes (along with our OWN submarines of course) would do the hunting part haha, the carriers themselves were meant to just hang back, well-protected and out of harm's way while providing air-cover for the rest of the fleet, much like with a modern carrier strike-group in fact; just very sadly didn't really go according to plan in some cases

  22.  @looinrims  even if they got those new JF-17 Thunder aircraft from China via Pakistan they'd still stand no chance against F35's no matter what, and given the strength of the garrison, the weakness of the Argentine navy and the presence of radar on the islands, I don't see how the Argentines could possibly take the islands by surprise OR actually overcome the garrison either way even if they did, at least not within sufficient time before British reinforcements arrived

  35. Oh yeah? Russia's a LAND power, they always have been and tanks are next to useless on the Falklands due to the terrain. Their navy's all they could really use in a non-nuclear conflict TO help Argentina and it has one ancient aircraft carrier that works half of the time, on a good day. We have two brand new ones that are the second biggest and most advanced in the world, and we're about equal with them in modern destroyers and submarines- and all this is still assuming that somehow NO-ONE else comes in on our side

Not to mention things like the Battle Of Britain, Battle Of The Atlantic, Battle Of North Africa, breaking the Enigma and Lorenz codes, dropping supplies to resistance forces, sending in commando raids to disrupt and sabotage, sending wave after wave of bombers to attack German cities, sending supply convoys to Russia, and of course storming in on D-day, both in the air and on the beaches, right alongside our allies (despite what 'Saving Private Ryan' seemed to be trying to say); we kinda did rather a lot more than fucking hide and our allies would've been unable to win without us

Something Communist Kermit with his obvious Spanish bias there avoided talking about as much as possible, was the fact that very soon we'll have a fully operational aircraft carrier, a REAL 70,000 ton one, with a second well on the way, each of which when ready will be escorted by a full carrier-group of the best air-defence destroyers, best ASW frigates and best nuclear attack submarines in the world, and which each will be carrying a full squadron of the best and most advanced fighter jet on Earth aboard, to cover our strike-forces and basically rule the air. There is NOTHING the Spanish have that can overcome the combined might of our armed forces with those ships and those jets in play

  45.  @kristian2150  I think it's pretty obvious all those planes could be used just as is already from the carriers or from on land, regardless of what the MOD says, oh the pilots won't all have had time to familiarise themselves with the platform but a crash-course could be used, any former Harrier pilot in particular would be right at home in one. Something else our resident communist puppet missed was the fact Harriers, attack helicopters and F35's don't NEED intact runways and large airbases to operate, that's a disadvantage fixed-wing VTOL jets were ORIGINALLY DESIGNED to overcome during the Cold War as we KNEW such assets would be the primary targets for any Soviet missile attack, so the Harrier and the F35 that's based on it were intended to be able to operate just about anywhere a helicopter could

I needless to say am rather biased here BEING a Brit haha, but I still don't think even Germany and Russia combined would've actually been able to successfully invade us no matter what; oh it'd certainly make a big difference to the war overall, but even if they beat us in the Middle East and bombed the crap out of us here at home, that still wouldn't actually mean they could defeat the Royal Navy or Royal Air Force sufficiently overwhelmingly to take Britain itself- remember they were arguably the best navy and air force in the world at the time, (certainly the biggest and most powerful in the Royal Navy's case U-Boats or no U-Boats), highly-trained, well-armed and battle-hardened; and they would've been far more motivated to fight to the bitter end, our guys wouldn't be fighting for oil or supporting an ally or trying to hold on to some distant old colony, they'd be fighting for their own homeland, their own families, fighting for everything they knew and loved, against an overwhelming force composed of the two evil big bads of Europe (Fascism was bad enough but Communism was the boogey-man, the decades-old enemy everyone feared and hated). A massive looming obvious threat, definitely hell-bent on conquering us. And of course even if the 'Jerries' and 'Ruskies' actually DID somehow get as far as the actual landing on the beaches stage? they'd still have to actually get through a still largely-intact British Army, WITH full reserves activated and hundreds of thousands of Home Guard volunteers helping (many of which were WW1 veterans); all fighting on the defensive, often in urban warfare Stalingrad-style, and fighting on ground they knew far better than the enemy, well-supplied and supported fully by a population that would be actively engaged in guerilla warfare, sabotage and spying in their own right; I honestly think we'd still stop the f*ckers cold even if they DID invade. Also any Axis alliance that huge and powerful and already-hated? would DEFINITELY bring America into the war on our side sooner anyway, especially if you throw the threat from the Japanese in too, and America would've likely already been sending us massive amounts of supplies right from the get-go in that situation even if they weren't openly fighting beside us yet
