@FriedrichBarb why is he talking about it at all then if it's so unlikely to ever actually happen in real life? Even just hypothetically it isn't like a bloody and brutal civil war tearing the country apart with thousands of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire is something we especially want to fantasize about is it, at least not to ME I'm happy to say. Who ASKED for this

@zhu_zi4533 why? Kinda a big difference? Northern Ireland and Scotland's populations mostly WANT to remain part of the United Kingdom, that's WHY they still ARE, and if enough of them suddenly decide that they no longer do wish to be they can vote not to- and, unlike in this frankly ridiculous scenario we would RESPECT THEIR DECISION AND LET THEM GO. Don't see that happening in Hong Kong anytime soon

@zhu_zi4533 incidentally before anyone accuses me of being a hardline Brexiteer I actually voted for Britain as a whole to REMAIN in the EU myself. The vote didn't go my way sadly and that's a shame, doesn't mean I'm gonna take up a weapon and try to change the outcome by force though. On the other hand I did at least GET a vote

@zhu_zi4533 Scotland still IS it's own thing and has been for centuries, just AS one of the four states that make up the United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland. If you call a Scotsman or Welshman an Englishman they'll likely get offended, but if you call them BRITISH they won't as that's the general term for a citizen of the United Kingdom and for an inhabitant of this group of islands, the largest of which is itself CALLED Britain as a landmass
