As usual this scenario is completely unrealistic because of his 'no allies are modelled' bullshit
11
He also didn't even bother to bring up the fact that quality beats quantity in modern warfare, yes ON PAPER China is one of the strongest powers on Earth right now but numbers alone mean fucking NOTHING
4
And if they do that CHINA would then feel the pinch from not having those supplies
4
@not_suspicious and that's what they and the Russians probably said before the British and Japanese explained how wrong they were on multiple occasions
3
@not_suspicious outnumber yes, outclass no, and even if they DID the whole idea America and Britain and New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and ALL Australia's allies in the region wouldn't immediately help ANYWAY is complete bullshit
3
@adampaula1863 the fact Australia can simply buy and sell elsewhere instead disagrees with you, the only reason anyone trades with the Chinese in the first place is because of how cheap they are, assuming this will be a permanent state of affairs is definitely not a good idea
3
@VandalAudi well if we're not considering the tech gap an issue how about that manpower, their training, experience and actual quality in combat THEMSELVES, doesn't matter how good the gun is if the man holding it barely knows how to use it and is poorly fed and even more poorly LED at that. When was the last time China actually fought a full-scale war against anyone, on their own so Korea doesn't count? Oh yeah, Vietnam in the 70's, and just like the US before them they LOST. The last time the so-called, rather ironically named 'People's Liberation Army' actually deployed anywhere in numbers and was SUCCESSFUL was 1989 in a certain square in BEIJING
3
@infinityquasar what I want to know is if he thinks China could actually win a war against anyone in the South China Sea WITH THE AMERICANS, AUSSIES, NEW ZEALANDERS, JAPANESE AND BRITISH ALL INVOLVED because they just bloody automatically WOULD BE, and the answer would be no, or at least should be
2
@marcussurleyadventures1928 who's friends with Australia? Most of the modern world. Who's friends, REALLY long-term friends with China? That they can rely on and that won't STOP being friends with them even if all AUSTRALIA'S friends start giving them dirty looks? Not so many huh
2
@marcussurleyadventures1928 never said that should be the case did I. If China stopped all trade with Australia though and the US and UK and all Australia's other allies put sanctions on THEM in return though how long do you think China would actually be able to hold out before giving in and re-opening trade again
2
@marcussurleyadventures1928 China's OWN rise as a major power is equally dependant on trade with the outside world
2
@infinityquasar what is 'fun' about it either way exactly, he's talking hypothetically sure but if this actually happened and for some bizarre reason NO-ONE ELSE got involved on either side the loss of life on both sides would still be mind-boggling
1
@theholyasdf3593 they would also then be ACTUALLY REALISTIC.
1
@VandalAudi I never said he was ever actually GOING TO DO IT did I, just that it annoys me that he makes no mention of the fact the biggest reason no war with Australia would ever actually work is BECAUSE of that
1
@marcussurleyadventures1928 yes, and that is why this could never actually HAPPEN in the first place but more mention should be made of it even HYPOTHETICALLY
1
@eliahaj6503 do I tell YOU what to watch? No? Don't tell me then. Expressing displeasure at one aspect of something doesn't mean I don't still enjoy watching it overall
1
@theholyasdf3593 and if they did EVERYONE DIES and we all KNOW THAT so why would anyone actually fire nukes? Hmm? If there IS ever going to be a war between modern world powers again it's going to be conventional, with nukes as a deterrent TO anyone else using them but that's ALL they'll be, America has more modern, fully-usable high-powered nukes than anyone else and no-one's gonna accuse them of not being willing to still fight a war
1
@theholyasdf3593 ohhh as someone who knows what Chinese military rations are like first-hand I wouldn't be talking about food lol, "buddy". I can watch something, express displeasure at aspects of it I disagree with and still both enjoy it overall as I said before AND get the 'point' of it if it has one, and frankly I'll thank you not to lecture me about any of this or assume any superiority here
1
@theholyasdf3593 if nukes were considered such a simple, clean-cut solution to everything we'd all be dead already since the Cold War and no-one would be bothering building new tanks, planes, artillery or aircraft carriers
1
@VandalAudi it is not my first time doing a lot of things haha, doesn't mean there aren't always aspects I disagree with or feel need more attention
1
@theholyasdf3593 well same to you I suppose
1
@kurousagi8155 including America so yep, but then again Russia might come in on China's side then. I'm not saying it would work as a video if allies were included as they WOULD make the whole thing a lot more complicated, or simpler depending how you look at it, after all it'd probably just result in an Australian victory right off the bat, IF somewhere like Russia doesn't decide to help China and, even in a scenario where they did, with no nukes used and Russia and China's navies comparitively weak it's probably STILL a win for Australia and the Western Allies even then. What WOULD have been nice though is if he'd said something along the lines of "this scenario is perhaps not realistic as any attack on Australia would immediately result in American, New Zealand and British forces intervening" but nope, not even mentioned
1
@kurousagi8155 agreed
1
@VandalAudi nice referencing there and nice to meet you fellow fan of a certain book series haha, and well ok let's just agree to disagree then
1
@PsyNZ as for MODERN wars how were or are Afghanistan, Syria, either Gulf Wars, the Falklands War or any of the myriad little conflicts going on in the Middle East and Africa right now solely about attrition or economics?
1
@adampaula1863 where the fuck do you get 'supremist' from
1
@kevinshort3943 oooo Pakistan's giving us dirty looks and North Korea's threatening us again, I'm shaking in my little size 13's 🙄 yep, whereas Australia can literally just switch to trading with ANYONE ELSE than those three
1
@kevinshort3943 oh, sorry haha assumed you were another Chinese troll trying to make out having their support and ONLY their support was a GOOD thing
1
@PsyNZ true but if it comes to that so are the other big powers to THEM
1
Same here but we don't exist remember as allies 'aren't modeled', the only reason Indonesia was included here is because China can't actually get directly to Australia without going through them, not unless they want a 5000 mile detour first like he said
