@PilotPhotog while obviously any sufficiently large aircraft carrier and her aircraft can and should have capabilities like that, just as the American ones do, they shouldn't have to be relied on as the sole source for it, or being used to hunt down pirates or escort tankers or patrol round oil rigs or fishing grounds, a full-sized fleet carrier's job first and foremost is to BE a full sized fleet carrier, to be the flagship, leading the way and providing support where needed, and let other, dedicated ships, among the same carrier group or the same fleet perform the lion's share of those roles. Somehow we need to find money and crews and resources for more ships

@PilotPhotog yup although THAT'S what we need ships like HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark for, and the already-missed HMS Ocean, along with landing craft and lots MORE helicopters of all kinds. Too pricey to ask for all that though so hope the Royal Marines are still good at paddling ashore in boats or rafts or, at worst, swimming
