@donjones4719 Two space X rocket launches and explosions this year. My neighbours party exploded rockets recently, also this year. What's the big deal? A bigger deal will be when China builds a moon base rather than talking about doing things for over 50 years.

@donjones4719 Agreed. The money went to consultants and select committees not to engineers and astronauts. The US spent 3 million per day for 20 years in Afghanistan ensuring the supply of opium continued to be supplied to US drug companies and dealers. Maybe US drug companies and street dealers should pay for building a moon base.
