The key rule in attraction - be attractive. Attraction is not negotiable. If she doesn't find you attractive, don't bother because nothing you will do will change her mind - 13ms for a first impression, 200ms to fall in love (as per the video citation). Problem is for a number of men, no women find them attractive in that way. And it's predominately due to genes - you can't "become a Chad" or "game" your way out of it.

She will eventually dump him. I'd wager on it if a sequel ever came out, she would have left him for someone else.

The mating gap is just a rebranding of hypergamy because the latter is deemed "manosphere, incel rhetoric".

Credit where credit is due and responding to the critique where many others would not respond at best or at worst, declare it offensive. Kudos.

How dare men refuse to contribute to the state by going down the road of self-determination. This is what they are scared of. Men leaving society and not dating means much less tax money to distribute.
25
Despite warning them over the last few years, the passport bros are going to learn this concept the hard way.
24
But you as a man are expected to pay top dollar for each date, gesture and gift.
22
A couple of things have changed since the movie came out. First, the Karen of today would expect Rick to commit to her. He won't. Second, the Karen of today would never settle for Gary, she'd rather go it alone if Rick refuses to commit.
15
A lot of people think that women who are 35+ are getting zero attention from men and are living alone with cats and wine. Reality shows a different picture. It's an uncomfortable truth people don't like to hear.
14
The UK Prime Minister is asking every school to show this to their pupils.
12
The fact that more and more people are noticing that dating apps are trash and have noted that their financial model requires you to remain single warms my heart. A white pill. Hopefully the for profit dating apps will disappear in the near future.
12
@hondainsight421 It also carries risk. Including permanent disability. Each to their own but is it worth the risk?
11
Their nature never changes with age. In the same way you don't stop eating, drinking or sleeping when you age.

Hollywood Myth: There is someone for everyone. A "soulmate" in modern parlance. Brutal Fact: There isn't. "Nice Guys" will find this out the hard way over a long period of time.
10
Here's the problem - their preferences and the minimum standard only ever go up with time. The more attractive characteristics they encounter, they now become the minimum standard. Even with ageing. In their twenties, it was attractiveness and excitement. In their thirties, it's that plus provision, their own home, car ownership. In their forties, it's all that plus own teeth, home ownership, pre-selection... I could go on.

Savage. I am stealing this for my own use.

This is what annoyed me with the recent incel expert interview with William Costello on Elliot Berwick's channel. Society only focuses on the winners (survivorship bias) and forgets that if everyone improves, the minimum standard goes up and we'll always have a bottom tier of "low mate value men".

I suspect if there ever was a sequel, Rose wouldn't find him attractive in time either and they would have split up. Some men are simply not attractive to women universally. As sad as that reality is.
9
Here's where Hollywood fantasy diverts from reality - so would Rose.
9
Some men simply are not universally attractive. Sad but true.
8
Rose being at his level and interested in him was Hollywood fantasy. In reality, Rose would also be chasing Rick and would find Gary unattractive. Ultimately Gary is not boyfriend material like other "Nice Guys" and this is the lesson they need to learn so they can grieve and grow as a person in other aspects of life they can control.
8
I personally know of women up until their sixties who still date casually to men who only use them for recreational purposes only and have the receipts to prove it. Their nature from their 20s and 30s does not disappear with age, despite popular belief.
8
If you have to ask out a woman or date, you've already lost. Men who are attractive don't need to do either - she'll approach you. She will instinctively decide if she is interested in you in less than a second.

@VEGASBIGDOGDASHERS As I age and look into human nature and evolutionary psychology, I realise more and more, as do those psychologists, even if they won't actively admit it, that the black pill advocates were mostly right.
7
Excellent news for the Match Group. If Bumble fails, that leaves them with a monopoly. A monopoly on love because the statistics show that online dating has become the only game in town as asking women out in real life has become a social taboo outside of bars and nightclubs. If this happens, I hope the FTC gets involved.
6
While people may not want to hear this, she will still have far more options than the average man.
5
The thing is, the movie is less brutal than what reality is for men now.
5
Today: Alpha lays. Women do not want betas anymore.
4
In today's climate, even paying large amounts of money will get you nothing if you are a low status man. Women want lifestyle sponsors and increasing numbers of men can't pay. Hence, single women wanting experiences and the "tingles" would rather refuse these men nowadays than make the bar higher as it was in the 80s. Even "women of a certain profession" will refuse service to low status men. For an increasing number of men, you're better off alone, saving your cash and making the best of other aspects of your life.
4
In the 1990s, if a woman had a body count of 30, she'd would be invited to be a guest on a daytime talk show in a not flattering light. How times have changed.
4
Reality is even more brutal for men today.
4
That applies universally. We're seeing it now with the rise of dating apps as the only game in town for dating and where women have an unlimited worldwide supply of men and status. if you aren't women's primordial choice, you'll never truly matter to women. Particularly now that women are refusing to settle and want the top tier man (or at least his child) or nothing.
3
Attraction is not negotiable. Men who have women attracted to them do not have to take them on dates or even ask them out.
3
Seen it with single women in their 50s chasing sixty year old Chads. People may not want to hear this because it conflicts with their beliefs but the concept that middle aged and older women end up alone with cats is a cope.
3
A film of its time. Today, Rose would have hooked up with Rick on a dating app and wanted commitment from him afterward which he won't give. She'd then be on social media complaining about why men won't commit. Gary today would be a virgin at 30 with no matches on the dating apps and no hope of anyone to settle with.
3
I don't get why people push that as a solution when in many countries, that's a great way of getting arrested, a criminal record and destroying your life.
2
Self-proclaimed dating coaches are always the most chronically single individuals.
2
They still do when they're in their 50s from the anecdotal experience I have gathered. You can't change natural inclinations in the same way you can't stop someone from eating, breathing, drinking or sleeping.
2
A film of its time. Today, the blonde girl would have slept with Rick after matching on a dating app and demanded him to commit to her before going on social media to complain that men don't commit.
2
I knew people will say "whataboutism" but we all know that if a man broke down in his car about being single and said he deserved love on the Internet, he'd be labelled entitled, toxic, creepy, misogynistic, an incel, hateful and universally condemned. If he is in the UK, he'd be referred to the Prevent programme and may even have a visit from the police.
2
Even those in their 50's, 60's and beyond still chase the top tier of men. Even if it is men who are ten or more years above them. Chads do not disappear with age and nor does mating nature.
1
Are these the same people who give the advice that "men should treat women as human beings" yet treat men as nothing more than walking cash machines on legs?
1
@oliverduke1173 The existence of abortion does not invalidate evolution.
1
The data regarding the dating market is worse than you think. Even the most unattractive women get far more attention than the average man. In terms of recreational use, even the fifty and sixty year old women are still succeeding in attracting men for such purposes and producing the receipts - not the young Chads but the Chads who are older than them. It does not disappear with age.
1
Even a woman who is a 2 in looks will get far more attention than a male 5. It's that lopsided now.
1
Natural desires for high status, attractive men does not change with age. In the same manner as the desire to eat, drink and sleep.
1
One problem - how does someone change their genes? Because Rick won the genetic lottery and Gary didn't.
1
"I wanted to be swept off my feet by Prince Charming and live happily forever after" is to women what "If I am just nice, a woman will reciprocate with a relationship" is to men.
1
The uncomfortable truth of all of this is that this is only possible because of a percentile of men who contribute to this. And according to recent statistics, 90% is from married men. As the saying goes, "don't hate the player, hate the game". And that game is being designed and implemented by men. And it'll have to be men who fix this.
1
Forty years ago, Gary would have been the man who raised Rick's baby and provided for Karen when she decided to settle. Today, Karen only wants Rick to commit. When he doesn't, she'll raise the baby alone with alloparenting help and her career plus the state paid for by Gary's taxes will pay for her and the baby. Gary today would be an involuntary celibate and still alone and a virgin at 40. There is no plan B, it's be Chad or nothing.
