  1. Two things to note from posting on the Internet. First, the Internet is forever. Second, even deleted tweets, posts, comments and accounts are not actually deleted and law enforcement can retrieve archives and use them against you. The only safe way from litigation is to not post.

  2. Anyone who knows how satellite and cable television went in the 1990s with subscription fees could see this coming. The future model, not just for streaming, looks to be a subscription fee to access with content accessed via pay-per-view subsidised by advertising and sponsorships.

  3. The government can not stop user generated content (yet) so making the law nebulous means everyone self censors and produces the same result of mass silence.

  4. A free and open Internet will allow people whose beliefs and observations you consider to be false and offensive to have a right to air their views to the public. The only alternative is to shut down the free and open Internet. The question then becomes, what fills the void? Countries that have gone down this road have implemented a national Intranet and restricted devices of citizens. That's where I fear we are heading. And in terms of YouTube video resolution, despite me preferring 4K as I have a high speed Internet connection and a 4K TV, YouTube continues to serve videos at a lower resolution in the hope I won't notice (I do).

  5. You see the same disclaimers for fair use. The intellectual property owners will claim that the disclaimer attempts to justify copyright violation in the same manner as these speech disclaimers.
