  1. Ofcom requires broadcasters to be impartial and offer alternative viewpoints... Unless Ofcom deems it to be "settled science" or the content to be "harmful", "offensive", "misinforming" or "inflammatory". Ironically, Guru-Murthy could be in the clear with Ofcom if not with the BBC. It could be why people suspect GB News (and if they disappear from the air, Talk) keeps being targeted for not offering impartiality while other broadcasters who do the same thing are in the clear.

  2.  @jonathantrotter8544  If you read the remarks, you would have known that the complainants were most aggrieved and offended by his commentary on them via social media networks, not just any direct or physical attendance in their presence. It is the former that got him into deep trouble and why his case went viral on social media. You don't have to appear at someone's house or even criticise them twice.

  5. My friend sold his old XBox 360 to GAME to trade in for a newer console. He did not factory reset the console prior, thinking that the retailer would do all that before selling it. Imagine his shock when he realised his gamertag had been changed by the person who bought his old console. The other person also made purchases and got Microsoft to change the password and take ownership of the account, my friends game purchases as well. My friend lost his account and had to make a new one. Lesson learnt the hard way.

If the BBC goes to a subscription service, they will both be axed and free-to-air broadcasting will cease as the BBC is the primary source of funding for the transmitter network for all the broadcasters. The commercial sector could not take up the slack and will also go behind a paywall.

Scammers have got more sophisticated in recent times, they know people are avoiding "too good to be true" prices and will now charge almost as much as the genuine product and will either sell cheaper, small items genuinely at first to get a number of good reviews to give the veneer of a genuine seller before committing the scam or hack the account of a genuine seller and use that account to commit fraud. It's becoming impossible to determine who a scammer is unless we only buy from Amazon direct or pay the going price which defeats the purpose of buying online to save money!

  16. Two main critiques I have seen regarding solar farms in this area (we're also ground zero for fracking and nuclear fusion): 1. Solar farms are being planned on prime agricultural land which would be better utilised for food production. 2. The concern of the panels polluting the soil in time which would render the land useless for food production. This doesn't invalidate the other concerns people have including the argument that solar panels are better off the ground and higher up on pitched south facing surfaces such as roofs and what happens when the sun does not shine and at night.

Even if you don't use a single bit of gas and electricity, you still have to pay a standing charge which is how they're getting around the problem of lowering consumption through consumer habits and more energy efficient devices. It's the same principle around landlines and why for the majority of people, their broadband bill is a mere fraction of what they pay for a landline. The only option around it is to go off-grid and generate your own energy. And if a sizeable amount of people do that, the Government will intervene because it will deprive them of income. In the same way they plan to intervene when people switch from petrol and diesel to electric by moving from fuel taxes and VAT to a pay-per-mile model. The only amazement I have is that Government has not come up with a model of taxation run by private companies and enforced by law to charge for the air we breathe. Yet.

Now that tragically the Online Safety Bill will become law, Rumble will soon be put under pressure by the Government to remove Brand or risk being blocked (along with any VPN that allows circumvention), fined and financially ruined.

  26. I joined Octopus earlier this year and I am on their Tracker tariff which tracks the wholesale price. Despite recent events, the price of energy is still below the standard variable rate and even if it did rise above the SVT for a short period of time, I've still saved more than that would cost.

  27. The pedestrian either reverses back to somewhere they can allow the cyclist to pass or the pedestrian walks into the road and crosses if safe to do so. If the pedestrian allows any harm to come to the cyclist such as plowing into them, the pedestrian is wholly responsible.

  29. Technically as stated "transmitted OR received" in the video, that would also cover all broadcast radio devices. Should built-in devices to cars also be covered such as touch panels and car stereos, that would be devastating to the radio industry who rely heavily on radio listening during the morning and afternoon rush hour. Particularly at a time where more and more workplaces are banning radios from the workplace due to a requirement to hold The Music Licence to listen to any radio. At that point, the only way to listen to radio while on the road will be as a passenger on a bus!

  34. You ain't seen nothing yet. Farmers are planning to do to supermarkets and food what the truckers did to petrol and diesel back in 2000. Companies are planning to cut trading hours and the hours of workers to cut costs. Give them additional costs such as paying for car parking at work. There's interest in replacing jobs with automation sooner rather than later. Job losses, wages being slashed to the bone, business closures and food shortages are merely the beginning of what is to come.

  35. If you did not physically create it yourself, its copyright and requires permission/licensing/payment. Including elements such as sound effects and fonts used in a work. Unless its under a libre licence (public domain, GPLv3, Creative Commons) where requirements and restrictions may apply. If I am right in understanding, even news organisations will seek permission, pay for a licence for anything that could be classed as fair dealing/use and certainly won't be using footage for free? I think there is a major chasm between how broadcasters and how content creators online work and understand copyright law.

  40. I worry that this will set a precedence of people using violence to censor comedians when they find offence. They may even consider any Police action a cost worth paying. The problem with comedy is that someone or something will be the punchline and someone will get offended. It will have a chilling effect on comedians and may have already killed off stand-up comedy because its too risky to be cancelled or attacked for an art form.

  44. We are heading toward a situation where gifted and intelligent individuals from poor backgrounds are going to be abandoned because of cost. Which in itself will be a loss and a cost to society. Worse still, state schools are starting to move toward the "freemium" model where if you want your child to achieve anything in life, you'll need to pay for all the extras as an effective tuition fee - with VAT applied of course.

  46. It's going to end up like e-scooters - drones banned in all public places without permission. And as you won't be given permission, its either take off and land on private property or you can't legally use it. They could go further and treat drones like aircraft, requiring permission from local Air Traffic Control for take off and landing and all the requirements as you would have with aircraft. Which would pretty much put drones out of reach of everyone bar businesses, Government and the well off who have time and money to invest in such a hobby like those with private jets and planes do.

  48. In terms of the someone operating a business, I guess that would apply to anyone who has monetised their YouTube content (ie. part of the YouTube Partner Program(me))? There does seem to be in some quarters this perception that those who run a channel on YouTube should have the right to make money but bear none of the responsibilities that comes with being a sole trader or earning a second income.

  49. I worry that we are going to see shortages spread to other food and dairy. If the farmers wanted en masse to stop producing all food and dairy to protest the supermarkets, they could bring the country to its knees a la what the fuel tanker drivers did during the fuel protests in 2000. I also worry that the "fair price" for all food could put it out of the reach of the poorest pensioners, welfare recipients and low paid workers - they have been completely forgotten in this debate between the farmers protesting against the supermarkets and the commentators who say they will happily pay at least triple for basic foodstuffs in order to broadcast their virtue. People for whom the Internet and travelling to farm shops may be out of the question.
