The attorney admits the jailer told the inmate to be quiet. The guard approaches the inmate, possibly because the inmate refused to stop disrupting the detention environment. A man has to adapt to his environment. The inmate should have kept his hands down. Instead, the inmate raised his left hand to the jailer.

@johanstrohman4465 More commands from a distance might have been better, but the "grab" was justified based on the lawyer's admission alone. In other words, the jailer could have continued to try verbal commands, but verbal commands having failed to stop the disruption, escorting the inmate to another location was reasonable. The inmate should have kept his hands down and availed himself of grievance procedures.

@marcusreed9242 Mister Reed, you are very nice to point out that I am full of knowledge and experience. Thank you, sir. The inmate put himself in jail and needed to act accordingly. That means putting his hands to his sides and not raising his left hand to the jailer. The inmate failed to act like a man is supposed to act, and, incidentally, the jailer was a better fighter, or at least that day he was. If I choose to act differently from what my environment requires, I choose the consequences. I have made that choice many times when our government tried to oppress me or others. This jailer was not wrong. He could have done better, and I can tell you how he could have done better, but he was not wrong.

@theRickestRick333 I don't recognize Shaolin Kung Fu in the guard's technique, but he is decisive and possibly trained. Look how he evades that right hook.
