I believe what youâre referring to is ancestral memory which every animal comes prepackaged with, and contains things like instincts, some non-learned fears and desires like need for companionship and love (in the case of mammals), etc. As its name suggests, it is memory that is essentially fundamental/base software that informs the animals behaviour before it is even out of the womb.
So somewhere in the genes are instructions to weave these âmemoriesâ, behaviours, or whatever youâd like to call it, into the brain of a species, which came from the ancestors of the species. Itâs probably an environmental pressure/stress that causes these instructions to be âsavedâ, i hypothesis, since a baby zebra better damn well know how to run at minimum a few hours after birth, or itâs a free and easy snack, and wasted resources for the mother that can not afford it, especially if this happens multiple times.
