Many UK Jamaican descendants were born in this country so they have every right to remain. If the Brits hadn't have usurped Jamaica in the first place then maybe there wouldn't be any Jamaicans living here!!! You reap what you sow in life!!!!

@pbysome Wtf?? I'm not in a greenhouse!! The Brits took lots of Africans over to the Caribbean to work as slaves on the sugar plantations so the Brits could make money from their labour and Jamaica's resources!! Taken from History of Jamaica - wikipedia!! In the 18th century, sugar cane replaced piracy as British Jamaica's main source of income. The sugar industry was labour-intensive and the British brought hundreds of thousands of enslaved black Africans to the island. Britain was making money from black Africans and should make reparations!!

The UK Parliament is comprised, the House of Commons, House of Lords and the Monarchy!! She doesn't publicly express her political views because she gets the opporetunity to do that during her meetings with the PM!

Assessing an individuals' well being in a care home can be used to guage a person's overall measure of happiness. Hearing residents cry out in the night that they wanted to die would indicate to me they are unhappy!! Alot of people in care homes don't want to be there!!! @tturtle1659 I couldn't care less what the Jamaicans do, whether they seek patronage with China or not, so what big deal if they do, can't be any worse than the Brits!!! It's entirely up to them as a free nation. They might get a better deal with China charging Brits extra money for sugar that was once 'theirs'!!

@pbysome I'm unintersted what other countries do and don't do. I live in UK and as a British subject it is my opinion Britain should make reparations because of the wealth it has wrongly obtained from using slaves. The Monarch can do whatever she likes to the British people because they suck up to the Crown but not people from other countries as far as I am concerned. Maybe the Monarch should relinquish some of her wealth and pass it onto the Jamaicans and other nations instead of letting the taxpayer foot the bill.

@pbysome The UK is always in debt. Btw, I'm only giving my opinion and I consider the UK should make reparations to Jamaica for enslaving many of the Jamaican's descendants. If not, it looks like the British will always be disliked in Jamaica, Belize, the Bahamas, in India, Australia and New Zealand etc!!

@DorotheaAntonio If I was head of state, the country would pay it. I'd even relinquish some of my own wealth to pay it and lead by example. I can understand why you guys are against making reparations, because all you think about are yourselves and nobody else!!! Acting like a true British citizen. And one wonders why loneliness is increasing in old age?? Sheer madness.

@DorotheaAntonio There's lots of people in the UK with too much money so there's no reason why they cannot contribute. As far as I am concerned the UK economy, compared to the roaring asians and the German economy is shrinking so by your logic it's shrinking because the British don't know how to build an economy. I've suggested they only know how to build an economy based on robbing and pilfering other countries of their resources and using slaves. Like I've stated on this thread I'm giving my opinion which clearly you and many others dislike. Quote - There are plenty of people who need care in the UK. @yolandascholten2012 In all of 53 years I'm trying to work out what the Queen has actually done for me that no other country without a Monarch couldn't have done for me. Btw, most women say the Queen is lovely because they want to be like her, have only one man in their life!!! She's been a terrible mother though, out of 4 children only 1 hasn't divorced and one has a fetish for underage girls, Princess Anne treats her husbands like subordinates!!

very funny that Prince William, who's white represents a head of state who's also white, yet the majority of people around him in the video are black! I can just see it now, the RF standing on the balcony at Buckingham Palace and all the people waving Union Jack flags on the mall are black.

You want to drop your pride mate otherwise when you do get in that care home you'll soon realise it was a waste of time being proud to be British! In other words, let me remind you of this truth - you are living in a country that cares more for money and less for people like me or you! Greed and selfishness is nothing to be proud of at all!

@forthfarean Errr no. I'm quite a positive and cheerful person when I go out. I actually enjoy my job. However I see so many downtrodden people it's disgraceful. It's never a question of people's standards of living but their quality of life. Like Robert the OP, wait til you get into a care home and then you'll realise how miserable people really are.

Millions of people in this country, even though they have material wealth endure hardship irrespective of age, which makes them miserable and yet I don't see anyone making life better for others. Living in Britain for many is a continual cycle of grief where man hands on misery to others. There's no desire for the country in making spirtual well-being paramount in everyone's life. But that's to be expected in a country where nobody truly cares about others. All people care about in this capitalist country is themselves and money. I, unlike you, are not proud to be British because there's lots of people living in Britain today who would say to me "if you don't like living here then *uck off!". But they're not prepared to make things better for me or see the flaws in the country!! It's not called Ol' Blighty for nothing Robert - it's blighted with misery!!! If you're proud living in a country where the people are selfish and only care about money it's clear you share their sentiments!!!

@robertanderson6786 I disagree. I grew up with nothing in the early 70's when there was no war but I had a peace of mind. I had everything life could offer me. I realised the best opportunity any child could ever have was being born to two truly loving parents. Nobody is taught that in the education belonging to the society you're so proud of, which is why lots of people live wasted lives. Do you think paedophilia was just created by Jimmy Saville? No. It's been going on for years, even during that golden era you hail!! It's plausible lots of children were sexuallly abused when they were evacuated to different areas of the country during the war but people kept their 'stiff upper lip' and never said a word about it. Have you ever wondered why there's so much dementia? Have you ever considered why there's so much loneliness in old age? We live in a society where old age is seen to be ugly; it's a turn off, it doesn't make money and the cosmetics can't cover up death which millions of people are frightened of in this Great country. The new young Duke of Westminster was more in awe about his wealth he attained rather the loss of his father. But his father was responsible wasn't he, being in charge of such a large Estate? Yet he regularly had prostitutes for entertainment and held regrets in his life. Imo he shot himself on his country estate because his quality of life was s**t. One won't get taught in school what life can do to a soul, instead people are taught rubbish. Have you ever had a prostitute Robert?

What's longevity got to do with being lonely and even suffering from brain degenerative diseases? Btw what's with the honour and god rubbish? I don't have any beliefs especially with regard to God because nobody knows what god is! Yup, you got it, nobody can define god in anyway. Pretend he never sexually abused young girls!! Sweep it under the carpet eh? When are people like you going to admit that your 'great society' isn't that great at all and only a facade of pretence covering up the real problems that nobody wants to deal with. Remember, you live in a society where a car salesman gets paid more money for selling metal than a person looking after a fellow citizen at the end of their life - how sad is that? @colinjenkins1 Africans being brought to the Island by Brits to work the sugar plantations for the Jamaican sugar to be sold by the Brits in England and in other countries? Do you think the Jamaicans received a fair share of the British sugar profits over 200/300 years? I don't think so at all!!! The native population on Jamaica were quite happily procreating and bearing children throughout the ages before the Brits arrived!! Absolute nonsense without the Brits the Jamaicans wouldn't have been around now!!

I'd want to wish them good luck; a fresh start, new beginnings!! They are indepedent and capable of making their own decisions. Anyone would think you'd be envious if they left the Commonwealth.

sure but in so doing one never realises one's faults and you end up being a very lonely person! I always hold my hand up when I get things wrong and that makes me feel very good. It actually annoys some people I'm sure. Pity organisations like Councils, Government, Police etc didn't do the same all the time!
