Starmer could easily have made clear on LBC that Israel has the right to defend itself but cutting off electricity, food and water to Gaza is against International law and the Israelis should not do it. Unfortunately, he didn't, he clearly implied that Israel had the right to cut off electricity, food and water supplies. He's clearly not fit to be a true statesman because he's one-sided!!

Yes I am outraged too but I am also outraged by the treatment of Palestinians by Israel over the past 75 years 👍

MP's are only (s)elected to work for HM Government, they have no obligation to represent their constituents!!

In all of these debates the opening question once the interviewee has defined their stance could be "why do you think Hamas carried out the attack? This then defines a level of balance 👍

Well the Nationalists in NI probably behaved in a similar way as the Palestinians simply because they were treated like sh@t by the British/Unionists. Treat people nicely they'll have good things to say about you, treat them bad they can become your worst enemy 👍

it's not a question about caring about catholics, it's about treating people the same irrespective of religious views etc 👍 @rafalgan-ganowicz

voters (s)elect an MP who goes and works for His Majesty's Government. Once there they are required to swear an affirmation proclaiming allegiance to the Monarch, not to their constituents. From there on in they can do little or as much for their constituents but largely their loyalty lies with the Monarch!. So when you vote you're only voting to see who gets to work at westminster and that hasn't changed for years. Voting doesn't change anything for if it did it would be banned! Additionally, because the UK people are governed by the Monarch it doesn't make sense to vote because the UK people will always be governed by the Crown! 👍👍 @lifeisimportantkate

Another thing you need to recognise is that is if you had worked for a Government Department all you were doing is administering the Monarch's governance over the people. That's why you swore an oath. The Oath of Allegiance (Judicial or Official Oath) is a promise to be loyal to the British monarch, and his or her heirs and successors, sworn by certain public servants in the United Kingdom, and also by newly naturalised subjects in citizenship ceremonies. The current standard wording of the oath of allegiance is set out in the Promissory Oaths Act 1868. Variants of the basic oath of allegiance are also incorporated into a number of other oaths taken by certain individuals. At no point do you swear an oath of allegiance to the people 👍 If you take a matter up with an MP all they will do is help determine whether the governance of the country, that is executed by the Monarch is failing or not. So it's got nothing to do with representing the people. It's a complete misnomer in my opinion and many people fall for it. 👍 @lifeisimportantkate

Wtf has that got to do with Palestinians being deprived of water, food and water? @Grizzlecock

That's because he's a doctor and a good hearted one at that too!!

Have you found that information that states it is not against International Law to cut off food, electricity and water to the people of Palestine? @richardgallagher4880

Yes I'm fine thanks. If two constituents have different views on a particular matter how is an MP meant to represent their views in Parliament and even vote on it? They simply can't which is why many MP's base their decisions on their personal views. Try engaging your brain, you might understand my comment 👍 @richardgallagher4880

I'm not disputing the work an MP does. I'm disputing the perception the general public have on MP's representing the people. MP's swear an oath of allegiance to Charles. Charles is the only person in the land that has the lawful right to govern the people of the UK (refer to his Coronation Oath). All MP's are (s)elected by the people to work for Charles' Parliament. Part of an MP's duty is to assist Charles to govern the people and part of their role as you point out is to engage with people, not to represent them, but to determine whether any form of the governance is failing the people and to look for ways it can be improved. In simpler terms, MP's are the Monarch's eyes and ears to determine how his governance is going. Now if you want to delude yourself and think MP's represent the people that's fine by me but for example, Lee Anderson isn't going to represent a constituent who wants to help all asylum seekers come into the UK and another constituent who wants all asylum seekers to be expelled from the country!!! Can you not see why MP's cannot represent the constituents because the constituents are all divided and have different views on different matters. You're ruled by the Crown; the Firm, it's that simple!! @sassygunslinger

You're funny, ever thought of doing stand up comedy? France isn't occupying Britain to start with and Britain produces its own domestic electricity, it also produces its own food and water. So it wouldn't be against International Law if France cut the intra-connector to the UK. What is happening between Israel and the Palestinians is something completely different. Taking things out of context really shows how mad you are 👍 @johnmaguire2185

There are ways to defend a country from attack but killing innocent civilians, bombing hospitals, cutting off water, electricity and food isn't the right way to do it 👍 @peaceharmony74

OK, so when the UK went and occupied Iraq or Afghanistan they could have cut off the electricity supply, food and water to all civilians? Makes sense that 🤔

Ok so what has he said that made any reasonable person think his interest is not with the people of Britain, when his main interest as a Dr is saving people's lives? @lal2300
