absolutely - so why give ALL pensioners a free taxpayer handout each year?? The WFP should only be given to those who genuinely need it!
4
Why are people getting this whole issue so WRONG? Tell me what's the point of giving free taxpayer handouts to people who don't need them? Please can anybody tell me why this is not a waste of money?
3
Will Richard Murphy need a free Government handout when he retires to help pay for his heating costs? Crazy for him to think Labour is picking on pensioners!!!
3
@annenunney9907 tell me how a pensioner who receives £220 PER WEEK not including housing costs and council tax, cannot keep warm during winter without receiving a winter fuel payment??
3
you can get financial help with dental treatment on the NHS low income scheme!! So what's your gripe?
2
@marijo1951 so many people are complaining and criticising labour's winter fuel payment proposal and yet very few are actually telling people the help that IS available to pensioners on low incomes!! Insane!!
2
@Foxy008 so you tell me how pensioners who receive around £220 each WEEK not including Housing costs and Council tax, will cannot keep warm during winter without the winter fuel payment??
2
@marigoldwhite867 they won't get pension credit because they receive TOO MUCH MONEY!
2
@mmcd256 but you still got to say how receiving £220 PER WEEK exclu of housing costs and council tax, a pensioner cannot keep warm during winter without receiving a winter fuel payment? Please tell me!
2
@martineyles the threshold varies for people with different circumstances! At the end of the day £220 per week is ample to pay for food and bills - this doesn't include housing costs and council tax!! Unless of course you think people like blair and his wife should receive a free taxpayer handout each year when he and his wife clearly do not need the money!! Friggin insane to think they do!!
1
@lindanairn2329 plz tell me how a person receiving £220 PER WEEK not including housing costs and council tax, will have problems keeping warm in winter without receiving a warm fuel payment?
1
@lindanairn2329 the UK I'd guess prides itself on helping the poorest in society! Tell me do you think a civilised society should do this or not? If not, what should be done with the poorest of the poor in society?
1
that's because the MP's from whatever political party all swear an oath of allegiance to the Monarch, not to the people. All representatives of councils, Police forces, armed forces etc all work for His Majesty's Government, not the people's Government. It's always been like this and always will, unless of course people just turn their backs on it all by not participating in it!! It's why I don't vote and never will!!
1
@Redf322 I am not complicit, it's all your fault the county is tit's up because people like you, every year, place a cross in the same friggin' boxes!!
1
@Redf322 I'm not complicit at all - if you think the country is in a mess, then imo it's your fault and people like you because you keep placing a cross in the same boxes every year!!
1
@Judyteen pensioners or anyboidy on low incomes can apply to the NHS low income scheme to receive help with health costs!!
1
@marijo1951 but many low income pensioners can top up their income with pension credit and will therefore qualify for the winter fuel payment!!
1
@jaystevens1965 is what available to pensioners who can't claim pension credit??
1
@julieknights1238 thanks you julie - for letting people know financial help is available to those on low incomes and that includes pensioners who are just above the pension credit threshold!!
1
@mmcd256 Well, the MPs have voted and imo, reached the right decision!
1
@mmcd256 If you know a pensioner that pays that amount for rent and that amount for Council Tax, that pensioner has got lots of money, high income or probably large amount of savings, so why should that pensioner expect to get help from the state when s/he's got enough money to live on? If the pensioner just received state retirement pension s/he would get help with the rent and council tax 👍 Lots of people claiming they're poor when in fact they're rich 👍
1
@jaystevens1965 is what available to pensioners who can't claim pension credit? If you're referring to help with NHS costs, yes it's called the NHS low income scheme and is available to anyone on a low income above means tested benefit thresholds 👍

The people in the UK are governed from the top and they're that scared of the top they ALWAYS moan and whinge about the people below them instead of the very people they should aim their grievances; the people at the top.
