  7. It's irrespective what the UK thinks, they still have to abide by International Law and hand the islands back. It's clear the Mauritius Govt want a better deal out of it in rent for the next 99 years. They've been bent over backwards and shafted for decades so it's only right they receive more money.

  8.  @davidholdsworth1141  The International Maritime Court and the UN General Assembly decided Britain had no legal claim to the Islands. So let's respect the law and give Mauritius a good deal for backdated use of the Islands and for the next 99 year lease 👍

  9.  @timg1246  There is nowhere else in the world that Britain can go to, to dispute the decision. Charles as Head of State has a duty to abide by law and if law says Britain has no right to the Islands then Charles must uphold the decision which is why the UK has ceded the territory. All they are arguing over now are the details of the transfer.

  10.  @timg1246  Mauritius has administered the Chagos Islands. I guess you choose to ignore that. Finally, if Britain did have a legal right to the Islands the UNGA and the International Maritime Court would have promoted this in their decision making but you and I both know this never happened.

But the fact is the UN and another legislative body found that britain has no legal claim to the islands - get over it, get on with your lives and refrain from putting your nose in business that doesn't affect you!!
