  1. ​ @patricklee6206  Why would the EU and ROI press for a hard border when it is out of their jurisdiction to suggest that? You seem to be passing the 'blame' on others whereas the only groups I could see wanting a hard border on the island of Ireland are the Unionists in Northern Ireland. The majority of people living in NI voted to remain in EU, that is common knowledge and that is something you should acknowledge. The GFA allows for NO hard border on the island of Ireland as the original OP points out and the NIP was a solution to that which the UKG agreed to. The UKG represents the Province of Northern Ireland so the Northern Irish Assembly should accept the NIP. The break up of the Union is clearly a possibility because the UK is in one huge mess.

  3.  @johnfogarty91  scotland is a sovereign country as far as I'm aware! Look up james I of scotland and the union - the union is a merger of the scottish and english kingdoms!!

  6.  @lauratictoc  The Bank of Scotland today is not a central bank but it retains the right (along with two other Scottish commercial banks) to issue pound sterling banknotes.
