what do you define as being hard work? Getting paid a lot of money means you work hard? Or does work hard mean you put in a lot of hours? Or does it mean you put in a lot of effort? I really do not know what you mean by the phrase hard work regarding remunerative toil. I don't see Phil hard at work presenting his videos. I do not see the Queen hard at work opening a new hospital. And by the same token how would clinically depressed Liz define laziness? So many people just spew out rubbish and argue over subjective words/meanings it's amazing!!

@lukemartin196 Again you're missing the point. It's a subjective matter and you cannot apply your definition to everyone unless they're all doing the same kind of work and they are all of the same build and physical fitness. Then you can make a comparison. Remember targets are only there to motivate people. One can answer 6 calls in an hour so to you they are working hard but the quality of those calls could be imo crap so imo that person isn't working hard. You focus too much on physical labour. There are lots of people who put much effort into an office job but they might spend more hours doing the work. There are lots of people who look busy but achieve very little because their work is meaningless!!! And according to your definition the Royals are definitely lazy!!!

@OnlySlightyRadioactive but you still haven't explained what you mean by 'hard work'. Your initial comment stated clearly that Hard work isn't rewarded in our society, it is exploited. Now in your other post you've conveniently removed the term 'hard'. Quote - However, a large percentage of the population do not see even a fraction of the wealth their work generates, that is exploitation. Seems you've realised the error in your intial post??

@lukemartin196 Btw, it's 2022, people shouldn't be working hard because for many people the more one works the more a person's health and wellbeing is affected. For example, the harder a carpet fitter works the quicker his knees are likely to f**k up. Imo people's health is more important than working hard!!!

@arturobianco848 That's right and many people, like Phil and JOB and Robespierre argue over words. I've listened to the tape on JOB and she never used the word 'lazy'. All Truss is referring to is people in China are more work focused than people in Britain and tbh I'd totally agree with her but having a Royal Family who aren't required to work doesn't set a good example.

@nicadi2005 So a person can 'put in a lot of effort' for say 20 mins in the morning and then sit on their backside for the rest of the day. When they get home they can say, "I've worked hard today so I'm taking it easy now". 'Working hard', 'hard-working' and 'hard work' are all subjective terms and people shouldn't use them at all. Some people's job's/work doesn't require them to exert much effort, like a parking attendant in a car park. Fire & Rescue workers don't work hard because alot of the time they're just maintaining their apparatus/appliances and keep up to date on training. They have a regular folly out on the river, that's not working hard.

@闘将ダイモス what you on about? working hard has nothing to do with responsibilities - digging a hole is hard work but the supervising of that work carries more responsibility but isn't as hard is it?
1
@闘将ダイモス sure i got that but what's that got to do with working hard?
1
@arturobianco848 I think you should look at Phil's video title where it states Liz Truss Says British Workers Are Too Lazy!! I think Phil and others are clearly misrepresenting what clinically depressed Liz says! I personally can't understand why Phil, All Shorts, Robespierre et al upload videos like this cos they're pretty pointless!
1
@闘将ダイモス but i don't know what you mean by hard work? Have you not been following the thread? Btw have you ever heard of the word NO? Every worker has the right to say NO if a task falls outside of their duties!
1
@闘将ダイモス Thanks for your definition of work hard. Now I'd imagine millions of other people wouldn't agree with your definition so it's only your opinion. You mentioned something like that people work over and above what they're required to do. People aren't forced to work over and above what's required so they are well entitled to say no. Give people an inch and they'll take a mile. That could be said of employees taking more time off than they should or an employer getting an employer to do more in their job. As for 'hard work', it's 2022 and people don't have to work hard because working hard is bad for people's well being and health.

@arturobianco848 I'm just pointing out that people moan about a term that's subjective!!!

@闘将ダイモス glad we both agree the current system that's supported by ALL parties doesn't work for everyone! Now who's doing something about it? Looks around Oh Look! No fecker!
