I'm seriously trying to figure out why exactly do people vote? Why do people vote when Governments, whoever the party it is, can act like this? Plenty of more examples, but why do people vote? Somebody please tell me why there's such a conviction by people that they have to vote when the people don't have any say in making legislation. people don't have any say in how the country is run. What compels a person to vote in the first place? Is it solely to get rid of the incumbent party in power?

Well you get to vote in 2 years time but whoever is in power won't prevent it from happening again and again..............guess there's no point in voting!!

@johnpritchard8946 Quote - because for all it's flaws I'd rather have our system than a dictatorship. I don't mind a dictator as long as the person is fair and treats everybody as equal!! Our system is ****!!!! There's no involvement by the people, there's no fairness, there's no true equality and that's true no matter what party is in power!!

You, so long as you're a British citizen (and a couple of other things - like you're not in the army) , even you, can stand for parliament. But I couldn't change anything if I became an MP because we live under Monarchial rule exercised through Parliament and Parliament isn't going to change because the Monarchy isn't going to change. People like you it seems are very content with it but I think it's ***t!!

@johnpritchard8946 Btw, apparently Gaddaffi gave out Government loans, interest free to Libyans to buy a house for themselves because he didn't want any Libyan to be homeless!! What do you get in the UK? A mortgage with interest rates repayable over years for a high valued property!!!
