So what you're suggesting is that the West interferes with Russia and impose a democracy so it's more inline with Europe and not even bother to ask the Russian people what they want? I like you're thinking!! Sounds no more dictatorial than Putin!!

@markwelch3564 The West never did that in Iraq, Libya, Syria and Afghanistan, they just invaded. So when can we expect change in the UK when the politicians actually care about the people they are meant to represent and treat the people more equally? The problem with these kinds of conversations is that whatever anyone says about Russia, the same speak can be said about the West. The UK isn't that great a place to live - filled with bigots and other people who know what's best for you. When I walk down my high street I see pain on people's faces as if they've been suppressed and oppressed all their lives!

In London, 1 million people protested against the invasion of Iraq by the UK and US but that fell on deaf ears!! So you respect people who do not achieve their goals - way to go!!!

Why is it people don't want to recognise the wars the West has started over the years, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan. The UK and US invade other sovereign countries just like Putin is doing now. Putin is doing no different than Blair and Bush!!! People lacking in principle!!!

@markwelch3564 Well people in the West put money before people so I would imagine the Brits would look at how much money they can make in Russia. Russia (if invaded by the West) would be financially exploited just like Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya. Money before people in a capitalist society I'm afraid, that's why when you get to old age you'll realise nobody cares about you and when it's your funeral, your remaining family (if you have one) will think more of their inheritance than you!!

@macuma5533 from reading the OP's comment, she thinks the West will invade and impose their values on the Russian people.

@ausbrum Democracy is an illusion!!

@jounik The problem is the West's interference in other countries. It sets a bad precedent! At least Putin is not proclaiming Ukraine has weapons of mass destruction or are hiding a leader of a terrorist group!!!

@markwelch3564 I haven't a clue what you're talking about!!

@markwelch3564 Oh so according to you, American concrete companies supply Iraq with concrete and the Americans could then buy up the redundant Iraqi concrete companies at a cheaper rate? Sounds like good business to me!! Whatever you say, imo the Americans and British only invade and occupied Iraq and other countries for money, for their interests not the interests of the sovereign state. Quote - I can be disgusted by this, That I could not agree with. People in the West only care about themselves and money!! Captain Tom's daughter is a prime example!!

@miakeogh6844 I've never been to Russia to see how the people live but from living in UK for over 50 years I experience an enslaved population. We're not free in the UK, we're all under Monarchial rule. The British Monarch has a very firm hold on the people of this country, especially the English!!

I was in shock when Iraq, Libya, Syria and Afghanistan were invaded by the West!!

@AaronOkeanos That's what you were told by the propaganda machine. Weren't the people who espoused the atrocities in Iraq the very same people who said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction but once in the country they couldn't find any? That was lying and made the war illegal!! You really shouldn't accept everything you read or hear from the media as most of it is propaganda!! To make you think in a certain way and influence your behaviour!!
1
@johnrussell3961 the reason was money! I've often wondered how Blair has become so wealthy since invading Iraq!! He's got a nice country mansion as well as a posh London home!!!
1
@AaronOkeanos I guess you fail to acknowledge the fact within Iraq, there were and still are, lots of different factions who are constantly fighting with each other Kurds, Sunnis, Shias. Now to ensure peace and stability within a country like that I'd imagine one would have to rule with strong leadership otherwise there would be civil war! And have you ever listened to people in UK who complain about the Government?? Have you ever listened to English people talk about the welsh or the scots? And what about the people in NI who dislike the irish? People cannot get on no matter where you live!
1
@AaronOkeanos I'm not judging the past, I'm making people aware that the West have done things in the past that are no different to what Putin is doing now!!
