The democracy is the fact MP's vote in the House of Commons. Councillors vote up and down the country, the electorate votes - that IS democracy and that IS what it has been for years and years!! Yet throughout all this, if voting actually changed anything it would become illegal!!

@davidmcculloch8490 My comment is what any politician would say about democracy in this country, whether Labour, Lib Dem or Tory. It's all about the ability to vote, irrespective whether a vote counts. The MP's are all happy with the FPTP system yet what you and I think about it is meaningless to them. Quote - We have an elective dictatorship Absolutely but that elective dictatorship works for Liz, not the people. In order to get electoral reform in this country the Monarchy needs to go!!

@christopherward5065 Thanks for your comment. Quote - an obvious demonstration of how little democracy actually exists. Many would disagree. It demonstrates that we have democratic processes in place, whether they are fair is irrespective. I don't think it's right that Gerald Kaufman should have been an MP for approx 47 years!! I don't think it right Churchill was an MP for 63 years!! But hey, I'm just a British subject who's just meant to follow orders and do what I'm told by the establishments put in place by the Monarch!!

@davidmcculloch8490 well i'll tell you what - you campaign to have PR and I'll sit back and watch your efforts come to nothing!! The current Parliamentary system works for MPs, Lords and the Monarchy! And always remember an MP's affirmation swears allegiance not to you or I but to the Monarchy! Without the affirmation no elected MP can enter Parliament!!
