If you can't get help even with dental costs, Council Tax and other things it's because you don't need the help. It's that simple. The state does not exist to pay for pensioners' luxury lifestyles. Plus they can receive help with housing costs and council tax PLUS they can receive help with NHS costs PLUS they receive FREE bus pass, FREE prescriptions - I don't know where you live but most pensioners in the UK can easily live without the winter fuel payment to keep warm in winter!!

This figure does NOT include housing costs or council tax payments!! In essence a pensioner has at least £218 to buy food and pay utility bills. But you're saying that's not enough??

Plus they, like everybody else receive FREE healthcare via the NHS! PLUS if one has disabilities there is help available in the form of DLA/PiP or attendance allowance! I guess you're another one of these people who expect the taxpayer to fund your holidays during your retirement right?

Just because a person works all their life and paid taxes throughout their life doesn't mean they are entitled to receive free handouts from the state. Next your mother will be wanting all her care costs paid for by the state when she goes into a care home!! Does she expect the state to pay for a holiday in Spain or somewhere similar?

Anybody on a low income including pensioners can get help with NHS services eg dentists by applying to the low income scheme. In my view they can even go private to have the work done but only if it was covered!! I'm so glad I have a brain and use it!!
