The EXpress article headline was hilarious - it wouldn't be a German superstate, it would be a European superstate. It's clear the Express is still living in the 1940's.

Quote - Remember, they need us more than we need them as far as trading is concerned. Hahaha!! So why is David Cameron, an Englishman, saying the UK should have closer ties with the EU instead of someone from the EU saying that the EU should have closer ties with the UK? Especially when, as according to you, we're breaking trading records with the EU? People don't half come out with some BS!! @BILLVANNER

Quote - We may not need the eu. So why is David Cameron, an Englishman, saying the UK should have closer ties with the EU? @chrisdobbing3403

David Cameron was born in london - so does that make him Welsh or Scottish?? Or perhaps French, even Italian? @susangarbutt7189

david cameron was born in london - london is in england! do you disagree? @SallySturman

so what part of david cameron is more scottish than english then? the colour of his hair? howabout the size of his feet? @SallySturman
1
so which part of david cameron is scottish and which is english? this is why i always refer to somebody's birthplace to indicate their origin and not ancestry because one cannot truly identify the origin of somebody from their ancestry!!!! Plz also remember some people don't know who their parents are or where they were from so how can you determine somebody's origins via ancestry? do you not get how silly you're being and you still not answered my question - which part of david cameron is scottish - his right leg? his head? whatabout his backside? i'd love to know! @SallySturman
1
imo i'll always use birthplace to identify somebody's nationality - if that person adopts another country's nationality then that also would identify themselves! The point I'm trying to make is that one cannot use ancestry to identify oneself! that's just ridiculous to do that! if you think I'm wrong then plz explain which part of david cameron is scottish? And what part is welsh because his grandmother was welsh!! can you see where this is getting messy?? @crabby7668

Quote - I would think most Scots living in England would still regard themselves as Scots. That's because Scots living in England were probably BORN in Scotland. So someone celebrating Burns night is now Scottish? Wow that's an absolute absurd way to establish a person's nationality!! I'll go and celebrate the Chinese New Year and that'll make me Chinese!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 @crabby7668

Absolutely, Tony Blair's nationality is Scottish. Everyone is born in a nation and Anthony Charles Lynton Blair would have been given a Scottish birth certificate making him a Scottish national. As Scotland is part of the UK Blair is also British. Ancestry is something completely different from Nationality 👍 @SallySturman

I know David Cameron is also British. But being 'British' imo isn't country specific with regard to nationality. Great Britain is not a nation, it's a union of 2 nations via Acts of the Union 1706/7 and it just so happens Wales had no say in it whatsoever. @SallySturman

I'd blame Elizabeth I for not having any kids but that blame could be passed onto her father for being such a promiscuous man 👍 @SallySturman

Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth were not Welsh because they were both born in England just like David Cameron was. And Tony Blair prefers to be called British because he cannot call himself English as he was born in Scotland 👍 @SallySturman

David Cameron (if you're referring to David Cameron) can call himself English because he was born in England. So David Cameron is English of Scottish heritage but not of Scottish nationality because he wasn't born in Scotland. The Tudors orignated in Wales but imo the place of a person's birth determines their nationality. Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth were both English of Welsh heritage but they were not Welsh by nationality because they weren't born in Wales 👍 @SallySturman

Quote - so what part of david cameron is more scottish than english then?' - His DNA You're looking at bloodlines, heritage, ancestry. These imo do not determine an individual's nationality. Imo nationality is based upon a person's country of Birth. If a Scottish man has a child with a Kenyan woman in Guatemala what nation's birth certificate is given to that child? A Scottish one? Perhaps a Kenyan certificate? Or what about a Guatemalan certificate from the Guatemala authorities? Or better still, what about a birth certificate from all 3 countries? @SallySturman

That's the problem of people using country of origin (nationality) and the term 'British' interchangeably, easy to apportion blame onto others 👍 @SallySturman
1
Passports determine Citizenship, not Nationality. Citizenship can be based on heritage along with residency but not Nationality. Nationality imo is determined by place of BIRTH. So Tony Blair's children (if all born in England) are English nationals of Irish heritage 👍 It seems heritage and citizenship is completely different to nationality even though people use all the words interchangeably as if they all mean the same thing 👍 @SallySturman

there you go that wasn't so difficult was it? @SallySturman

It's either he's pro-European or he's realised the damage Brexit has caused. Imo the UK (except for NI) cannot have better trading relations with the EU as it is a 3rd country. Any closer ties have to be some kind rejoining an aspect of the EU like rejoining the single market 👍 @SallySturman

How are the French and German lessons going Michael?
