I don't know why people harp on so much about defunding the BBC when the reality is that isn't going to happen. The BBC is an incorporated business existing solely due to Royal Charter. The BBC therefore needs a guaranteed income to meet its obligation. The best way to fund the service is through Council Tax bills as an extra precept. So if you don't watch TV you'll still have to pay it and if you're on a low income you'll get help to pay it through the CT reduction scheme! Obviously no more TV Licensing, no more visits, no more Court cases yet still the same BS programmes! That's the trouble with the UK, you pay for services you don't use!

@spokes1018 as far as I'm aware the numbers of precepts that are included within people's CT has grown over the years. I cannot see why another precept is simply included within the CT bill. We'll have to wait and see but the way I see it, I have a funny feeling I'll end up paying a charge even though I do not watch TV at all nor watch BBC programmes! Like I said, living in the UK is rubbish because one is always paying for services one doesn't use and those services you and I have no say over how they're run!!

From reading your comment I guess you are unaware the BBC exists purely because of Royal Charter. If you have any gripes about the BBC and its funding then you moan to the Monarch because it's their wish you have a broadcasting service and it's also their wish that you pay for it!! Good luck with that one!

@spokes1018 imo any new funding for BBC services will be included within Council Tax. Doing it this way means the extra amount EVERY Council tax payer pays will be small. The BIG problem is that out of the majority very few people use BBC services. I never watch BBC. However within the institutions like hospitals, prisons, care homes, doctor's waiting rooms, leisure centres etc the monitors enjoy showing BBC. Unfortunately we live in a society and pay for services we do not use and also pay for services we do not have any say as to how they're run!
