@goofygrandlouis6296 The British are clearly creative when they protest!! Hahahaha!!!

That's because there's lots of people in the UK who WANT to work even right up until they drop dead!!! Just shows how sad their lives are!!!

@puffins4007 You can't have two separate customs areas (UK & EU) without any form of control between them so of course the EU have concerns about British goods infiltrating the single market. So where would you suggest placing the customs controls between UK and EU?

@puffins4007 Quote - What would be your answer to the issue?. The answer is simple - there has to be checks carried out by both parties involved. So the EU do checks in EU "territory" and the UK do checks on UK "territory". However you and I know that in practice it's impossible because no customs border can be placed on the island of Ireland. There are people settled in NI who identify themselves as Irish and cannot be cut off from their counterparts in the ROI. Likewise there are settled people in NI who identify themselves as British and cannot be cut off from the rest of UK. Imo the only solution is for the UK to rejoin the single market for goods thus also respecting the wishes of 48% of those who voted to remain in the EU. Other than that the UK has to cede to the larger market. The day the UK lost NI was when the GFA was signed. However when people in England 'controlled' the vote to leave the EU they really didn't realise the implications of what they were voting for!!!

@puffins4007 you're failing to understand the issue - the issue here is not leaving the EU but to what extent does the UK leave the EU! This issue wasn't voted on. It was only the issue to leave or should i say withdraw or remain?! Sure 52% voted to leave EU but 48% wanted to remain therefore to respect democracy and the result a soft brexit would have been the right thing to do ie remaining in the single market. Contrary to popular belief leaving the EU could never have been easy because of the GFA ie no hard border on the island of Ireland. However the UK needs to have hard borders as it is a third country. This wasn't explained to those who voted and therefore, the result of the vote can be dismissed because nobody was given proper information to make an informed decision on whether to leave given the fact the UK could never fully withdraw from the EU because of the GFA. Quite funny really that people were hoodwinked and it was claimed the UK could leave EU when the truth is the UK cannot. At the end of the day people in the UK have to accept the UK cannot fully withdraw from the EU and imo, will in time rejoin!

@puffins4007 Quote - What was the question on the ballot paper? The 2016 vote just asked whether people wanted to leave the EU. In no way did people vote on how to leave the EU. Leave in part or in full? The specifics were not clear enough for anyone, even you to be able to formulate a certainty the UK would fully leave the EU!!! You're applying your own bias to the result, like many other people. Quote - the wishes of the people of Northern Ireland should be respected at all times. The majority of people in NI wanted to remain in the EU so you're disrepecting the peoples' wishes in NI by promoting a hard brexit. Remember some of the settled population in NI identify themselves not as British but as Irish and they are by default European citizens. So the EU has every right to protect those people. Very similar to Britain protecting Hong Kongers from the Chinese. 80% of people in Scotland aged between 18-40 want independence. At the end of the day the UK is not united in any way and people with your mindset will die off in time so we will never fully leave the EU and will rejoin at some point in the future. Britain lost its greatness when it began empire building!!! Quote - why are the EU working so hard to keep Great Britain within the EU? You sound paranoid, delusional or very anti-european. You should just relax, accept the situation and enjoy the rest of your life. Oh and never vote on the expectation you'll get exactly what you want. Democracy doesn't work like that.

@dave710 The 2016 vote only asked whether the UK should leave the EU. The vote never asked how people would like the UK to leave the EU, whether in part or in full. Furthermore because there are settled Irish people living in NI the GFA dictates no border can be located between NI and ROI. Therefore leaving the EU was always going to be problematic in NI because you can't please both sides unless one cedes land or the UK re-joins the single market. A referendum in NI won't solve the situation because there could still be a 49% 'minority' who want to be Irish. So the situation remains unchanged to what it is now. You really aren't thinking this through. Btw, GB only refers to the land mass of Wales, Scotland and England. It doesn't refer to NI. So NI can never be part of GB, only the UK. Again, like puffins, your bias is clouding your judgement. The British occupying NI means the UK will ALWAYS remain in EU.

@puffins4007 Hahaha!! Your post is funny to read. I don't vote Labour. In fact I don't vote at all because I think the current system is flawed and I don't want to take part in any flawed voting political system. Again, the vote in 2016 did not ask people how they wanted the UK to leave the EU. In 2016 voters were not told of the consequences in NI if they voted leave. If they had been aware of these consequences many probably would not have voted leave. We see many people now regretting they voted to leave, especially British travellers to Europe. It's not my problem Britain is occupying land on the island of Ireland where Irish people live. These people are Europeans and have every right to hold European passports, unlike us British living in GB. So they are entitled to have some of the benefits Europe has to offer. GB has left the EU so just be thankful for that. Alternatively you could always move to NI and fight the Unionists cause?

@dave710 Quote - We voted to leave. Not to partially leave. Leave, means leave. But the question never specifically stated how the UK should leave the EU, whether in full or in part. Your ill-feeling is clouding your judgement because you want the UK to leave in its entirety and that cannot happen because you were never informed of this before you cast your vote in 2016. Just accept the situation and get on with the rest of your life!!!

@dave710 It's not a competition. The question didn't ask the people how the UK should leave the EU, whether in part or in full. However GB is not under the constraints of the EU as it has now left. So be happy with that. You've got what you voted for. Stop complaining. It's not my fault that If people were made aware of the fact NI would have to remain under EU jurisdiction the UK could not fully leave the EU. The Windsor Framework has been voted in Parliament, ratified with the EU and places NI under the jurisdiction of the EU for obvious reasons. Just accept the situation and move on like you stated to me. Bear in mind though people with your mindset are reducing in numbers and eventually GB will be back in the EU.
