@williaminnes6635 yes being in the CPTPP isn't a massive deal, it is another talk shop and a marginal improvement in trade but it can't make up for the loss of trade with the EU! The UK's going to get poorer so tighten your belts people!

regarding goods NI is under EU jurisdiction and will always remain so all the while the Good Friday Agreement stands!! At the end of the day, voters in 2016 should have been told the entire UK could never fully leave the EU because of the GFA. I guess it shows politicians do not want educated well informed voters!!

@Doggle Bird let's start from the beginning - two separate countrys need to have a border. Okay do you agree? I hope so. Now the UK is a union comprising 3 countries and a province or territory this being NI. The UK borders a separate country called Ireland. You following me yeah? So because Ireland and UK are separate countries there has to be a border between the 2 right? It's easy to understand isn't it? So why isn't there a border between ireland and the UK? Oh it's because of the history of the island and the creation of the Good Friday Agreement which promotes unhindered access between north and south and south and north. So where would you place a border between the UK and Ireland??
4
@Doggle Bird i know that - the GFA was signed when the UK was a member of the EU and now the UK is not part of the EU - is the penny dropping yet?? By voting to leave the EU, the UK has left itself with an open border because the powers that be signed an agreement to not place a border on the island!! That is why NI remains under the jurisdiction of the EU! Comprende?

soon after the UK joined the EEC people voted and in 2016 they voted again. Did people get a vote to join the CPTPP? No they did not. Why? Imo it's because the deal won't affect the man on the street in anyway whatsoever!! So for the man on the street, there will be no benefit in the UK joining the CPTPP!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@gailjefferies3453 I haven't a clue how the MC applies in 2023. We're not living in 1215 Gail - we've moved on since those days or haven't you realised that? The MC was only an agreement applicable to King John and the barons at that time. many of the rights have been repealed or replaced since then. No matter how you look at it the people in the UK have no say whatsoever in how the country is run because the Crown is sovereign not the people!! You live under Monarchial rule/governance so get over it! Just like the DUP have got to get over the windsor framework so too should you stop thinking you've got any power!

noooo it's hooray for GB - with regard to goods, NI is still in the EU and will remain so!
2
@Doggle Bird Btw I don't vote at all and never have done because I think the current voting and political system is b@llocks! And if you are well informed why then am I explaining to you simple matters??
2
@Doggle Bird i don't make the rules and there is a lot of people who want to respect the GFA - hence the reason why there is no border on the island! Much to the DUP's and your dismay, a lot of people settled in NI identify themselves as being Irish. You have to respect their wishes. I mean, the Uk is being inundated with black and asians immigrants so you got to respect those people too! Perhaps now you can understand why the EU have jurisdiction over goods in NI whereas the UK only have jurisdiction over the people!
2
@Doggle Bird as far as i'm aware the contents of the GFA stipulates no border on the island of ireland! that was agreed by all concerned and was agreed while UK was a member of the EU. The UK has now left the EU and enjoys 3rd country status. A border therefore has to be in place between the UK and Ireland (a member of the EU). Read carefully - because people do not want to jeopardize peace in the provinces of NI the EU retains jurisdiction over goods in that area because no border is there! Do you understand?

@Doggle Bird oh well let me have a read then!! there has to be something there because a lot of people think like me! But maybe these people are wrong and you are correct - si it's a bit like these people who think refugees should goto nearest safe country because that is not contained in UN Human Rights nor in the UN refugee convention either! i'll get back to you!
2
@Doggle Bird You've clearly been watching too much Farage. There is no mention of the phrase "safe country" in the 1951 Convention, so please stop using it. Like I've stated Article 31 only relates to refugees who have not presented themselves to the authorities of the Contracting State and not shown good cause for their illegal entry or presence. The second para only sets out that a Contracting State cannot restrict an asylum seeker's movements until an asylum seeker has been regularised or they obtain admission into another country. If you cared to read Art. 32 it states "The Contracting States shall not expel a refugee lawfully in their territory save on grounds of national security or public order. 2. The expulsion of such a refugee shall be only in pursuance of a decision reached in accordance with due process of law. " It's clear the UK can only expel an asylum seeker on specific grounds. Asylum seekers are free to travel to ANY contracting state and claim asylum, even if they have come from France. Why do you think the UK is spending £500million on a refugee centre in France? Because all the asylum seekers in France who want to come and claim asylum in the UK are currently living in tents so Britain is being generous by paying for permanent structures to house them all. Your bias is clearly not allowing you to think straight!!!

@weeeeehhhhh joining the CPTPP imo won't benefit the man on the street at all because the UK can only provide services to the other countries in the CPTPP!!
1
@Vulpes10 That's because they've all got mental health problems, suffering from mass psychosis.
1
@god bless farage in 1975 there was a vote regarding the EEC!! Do you think in time the CPTPP will have freedom of movement?? I think so. So will you mind all of these nationals coming into the country if this happens? Btw have you any identity of your own or do you always have to look to other people like nigel farage for some?
1
@Doggle Bird So where would you put a border between the UK and Ireland?
1
@Doggle Bird Btw what are you changing by voting? You're still governed by the Monarch, the boats are still coming across, the UK still accepts asylum seekers, the Rwanda policy is an exchange scheme etc etc. You can't fully withdraw from the EU using your vote. Your vote doesn't mean anything and all the while you vote you're supporting a defective system. Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏

@Doggle Bird article 31 only relates to refugees who are unlawfully in a contracting state....... however it does state that refugees who are unlawfully in a contracting state eg Uk can merely show good cause to avoid any penalties until admission is sought in another country if they present themselves without delay to the authorities...... they cannot be penalised I cannot understand your point when genuine refugees have every right to come here via whatever means!!
