"We voted for them to act on our behalf" haha thats so funny!! People vote for others to work for His Majesty's Government and they swear their allegiance to Charles, not to the voters!! Parliament's only obligation is to govern the people and they'll do it THEIR way, not yours!!

Hey Michael, have you done a video about Farage saying Brexit has been a failure?

They may not be elected by the people but members of the commission are nominated and approved by the European Parliament which is made up of elected members. So in many ways, it's similar to the House of Lords although there's no life peerages for members of the European Commission.

@johnallen7807 what's wrong with the EU Parliament saying NO or YES to Commission proposals? It's very much the same as the UK Monarch saying yes or no to House of Commons and House of Lords proposals isn't it? There's no difference!! You people bemoan the EU regarding how undemocratic it is yet you fail to look at your own country - have you forgotten UK people are governed by an unelected Monarch!!

@johnallen7807 Here we go another deluded person who mistakenly thinks the Magna Carta gives the people the power in the country. The Magna Carta was only an agreement between King John and the Barons who were under him. It had nothing to do with the people. After Cromwell, the Monarch was brought back as being head. Charles was recently crowned King of the United Kingdom and he swore to GOVERN the people. Perhaps you should take some time to read his oath. None of the PM's swear to govern the people of the UK, not even the Lords as they all swear an oath of allegiance to the King, not to the people or constituents. Imo PR will NEVER happen in the UK because it's not for you to decide: Charles has the right to govern you and everyone else and he'll govern you as he sees fit. The FPTP has been in place for hundreds of years and admired by everyone who benefits from it, including Charles so there is absolutely no reason for him to change it. Imo we live under Monarchial rule and the constitution only lies in the customs and traditions of His Majesty, his Houses of Parliament and his Lords and MP. The recent Windsor Framework that was agreed even before your democratically (s)elected MP's could vote on it is a good example of Charles' absolute authority.

@johnallen7807 europe only has democracy because of the UK? The UK doesn't have a true democracy where the people take an active part in how the country is run. The governance of the people is the job of Parliament of which the unelected UK Monarch is head. In the UK it is irrespective whether the people agree or disagree with UK law because they do not get a say in it; they just have to be good little subjects and play the game! quote - but the Commission has completely ignored them. Has it? The farmers have been offered compensationm, so what's your beef? If the EU didn't offer compensation then I would agree with you on this issue but their interests are being taken into account. btw - European monarchs are ceremoniaL as they do not swear oaths to govern their people unlike the UK monarch! I can't see why you dislike the EU so much when the UK is not a better place to live!

@johnallen7807 I live in the UK quote - Magna Carta established the principle that no one is above the law, I disagree - a UK Monarch is above the law - they cannot even be lawfully arrested. I fact the UK Monarch IS the law and without a Monarch the country would fall into anarchy. We live in the year 2023 and the Magna Carta was agreed in 1215 and only concerns itself with the relationship between barons and the monarch at that time. The magna carta does not apply to the common person. Additionally a vast number of agreements consented by the monarch in the Magna Carta and other subsequent charters have been repealed. We're now in 2023 and King charles III publicly swore an oath to GOVERN the people of the UK etc. So only Charles has the lawful responsibility to govern the people and this is achieved through Parliament of which charles is head. The Uk monarch being head of parliament holds Royal prerogative which means they can exercise their lawful right to have the final say when all else fails. So imo, the Windsor framework came about simply because Rishi got so fed up of the in-fighting regarding the NI protocol he asked the monarch to get involved and exercise royal prerogative to get a deal through parilament that would end the fighting. That now done and the fighting has stopped, everybody can now move on to other matters. Btw I'm well aware of walter bagehot, the glorious revolution 1689 but i still think people in the UK live under monarchial rule

@anydroid yes, Michael is now spending more time covering problems in Europe than covering how brexit is a failure.
