  1. Just as bad as stupid people are gullible people. Anyone can post lies and disinformation on social media platforms in order to cancel someone. Unfortunately, some people are so simplistic/unsophisticated/unnuanced in the way that they think that they will believe anything that is posted on social media. One famous psychologist would call this "low resolution thinking".
