Its more that they are thought lazy and want to force others to be the same. They could with some effort find animal farmers that does things right and arrange meat from there, instead of opting out from "factory" food. And hey, plants get farmed too, but that seems emotionally more distant apparently. Not to mention GM plants, which are essentially an enslaved form of life. Vegan fanatics are just hypocritical and annoying to others for pure self validation.

Is your entire position to tread animals as humans? Or a at least a sub-species thereof by giving them certain human-like rights? Then do they not have to compete with us humans and our superior capabilities? At what expense and how far are you willing to go exactly? When does an animal right super seeds your personal wants and needs? And who is going to enforce it all? Courts and an animal police seeking out offenders of those that can not speak for themselves? Who is going to argue for the cow and can the cow have it say in cours too and make a plea for its position? You see how quickly this turns into a theology with likewise inforcement. You see how quickly this becomes silly. That is the result of your position being a silly one, not that well thought out. But do in your personal life all you care, but know this. If we all become vegan we get a massive animal extinction in a mere decade. Those chickens and cows will have little to no space to live happy lives and most will die in the first months. Out of desperation the remainder will attack any source of food like farmlands and get shot. Other smaller ones will try to live alongside us as birds do in the cities and that will just spread massive amounts of disease. Above all most will fall prey to hunger and predators such as cats. Btw. Can cats even violate animal-rights? Or is the logic then similar to "black people can say everything to a white person and not be called out a racist"? In some ways its like going back to an era before there were sewers, but then with a hundred or more times the population. Its great to become a shit hole country correct? Being Vegan is the typical simplistic Marxist "great leap forward" to Utopia kind of bullshit that never works in practice.

Lets not loose sight of the fact that the natural life situations for prey animals are not always that best. Every second of the day in fear of being attacked and eaten. I think it never was "paradise" to begin with, that said, the constant agony, pain and other life restrictions animals face today when being farmed purely economically is worse. That can certainly be improved by a lot without out of this world costs involved for us humans. Not eating meat is however not a solution to the real problem, it can at best be a protest or a life choice. But why not find a source that does treat the animals well and pay a little more for it? That would be the ideal solution and an actual incentive for change! It just takes a bit more effort than simply stop eating meat and attack other people for not doing so!

There is no logic in your reasoning, its just extreme (as an other word for dogmatic). Your position just does not flow from the facts and thus his comments are correct. Somewhat like: We can live in space, a few people have tried it. Now is it suddenly moral or the right thing to do to leave earth to the other species and f*ck off? Truth is: We are a species that fights for it existence and growth like any other. We just have been good at it, at the detriment of other species. Does it need to be at the detriment, not as much as is now and we will get there if we make the effort. But not by betraying out roots and our identity. And our path to our current domination has also seen certain species benefit by a LOT. Think cat's, dogs and yes even rats, mice and what not.

@InSaNiTy, Nature is not a fallacy and its not weak to invoke proven reality. And I sleep plenty well, no feelings of guilt here when I have some meat in my soup or when I use leather to keep my pants on. And the "right side of history" is just a veiled threat for those that have no other leg to stand on. The thing is, you Maxists always like to lower human standards to extreme poverty as if that is the most equal and moral thing to do. Everything is about gaining power over others, be it ironic in the vegan specific case that it also results in extreme suffering of animals that live near and depend on humans. Marxism is the biggest threat to a happy life for all on this planet and vegans are, mostly knowingly, the worst Marxists. Its all the same moral rhetoric as minority this and gender that, but with animals. The consequences down the line be damned, as long as you get your Utopia shit hole you so desperately want. Essentially its both religious as its political, just like Islam and just as dangerous.
