Its powerless because it denies Russian gas that can still be delivered. Its powerless because if closes its perfectly working Nuclear power plants. Its powerless because they grow the state not the economy. Its powerless because it is in the EU and that was fine as long as they controlled it, but they don't anymore, now they are prisoners just like everyone else. Its powerless because they let in lots of foreigners that are a drain on their economy. Its powerless because it suppresses the truth and attacks its political opposition. Its powerless because the unified with East Germany (the biggest catastrophe in Europe since WWII, even bigger than the massacre in Ukraine right now). Its powerless because its ruled by fascists that clam the opposition is fascist, just so they can stay in power a little longer, long term consequences be damned. Its powerless because all other sorts of self-sabotage (too many to mention). Most of this was already going on BEFORE the pipelines got taken out. They were just begging for the final blow...and then some more.

You left a crucial element out. That the USA right now is 100% a fascist state, naturally German leadership flocks to that, regardless of the consequences. Because, well...they are Germans, need I explain more? It has the downhill effect of making the whole EU a fascist political environment with ever more draconian measures, anti-free market laws, suppression of truth and political opponents. The whole deal and the people in power, mostly fascists and/or commies, are fine with a society like that. The biggest cause of global decline in the masses economic wealth and freedoms is the USA, the democrats in particular, but not exclusively.
