@CalumCarlyle It's pretty obvious how triggered 19th century philosophers affected each new generation's "common sense" and the cultural schisms. I don't see the earlier thread (my browser won't display any of it other than the OP and your new comment) so I don't actually understand how your comment fits in to it. Sorry about that.

@maple22moose44 What's your problem? If you stay you become a member of the clan. Your vision of "slavery" is flawed. The "slavery" period is offering labor to pay some kind of debt. You're then given a chance to become one of the tribe or to go elsewhere. What other choices do you think there should be?

@livingtoaster1358 Laws were applied to denizens. How is that confusing?

@livingtoaster1358 This is consistent with Westphalian sovereignty that survives to this day, for the most part. If you want to make some kind of complaint about "injustice" you're going to have to be more explicit rather than alluding to your apparently delusional expectations about how any civilization can function. No civilian law, no civilization.

@vbs1992 The slaves could "convert".

@charlesurdy-barnes413 Superman, as a character, comes from Nietzsche's Ubermensch. That's a theory based on the idea that Darwin was correct about the ascent of man.
