'Random mutation' in the wild is also a known thing. It has nothing to do with Darwin's novel claims, that all remain absolutely without evidence. "Doing evolutionary science" can get you funding and also lead to discoveries that help understand many things about life but not a thing about Darwin's delusional, aspirational theories all based on his fear of being accountable to the God of the Bible. No "nature study" can support Darwin's "origins" theory. The question is why so many lunatics are addicted to these stupid claims? I think they all share the same disease of the mind. As do you.
