Anyone whose entire focus on is 'feelings' about 'democracy' is an idiot. If you say "our democracy" you must define it. In the USA it is defined by the freaking written Constitution. The word "democracy" is used to pretend that this party is the true Jacobin party as the Jacobins claimed to represent the disenfranchised "folks" or peasants or "demos" in France and then eventually they globalized this 3 class construct. What they have in mind is "True Democracy" needs Jacobin "experts" to run justice and the macroeconomy because "the patriarchy' is so tricky and powerful and they get people to obey the Ten Commandments rather than retaking what is rightly theirs by virtue of the fact that they want it and we Jacobins are threatened by these untethered rich, competent people.

The only reason they pivoted to the Jack Smith gambit is because they lost the House majority. They preferred to run Stalinists committees because there's no "rules of evidence" there.
