Maher is, of course, a comic. And he makes a lot of comments about politics and religion and so forth with a snarky presentation. That in and of itself doesn't make him wrong. But the problem with this is that he has created his own little bubble of followers that don't expect critical thinking. They're looking for snark that they all agree with. So Maher has cultivated a fan base that seeks to be entertained by having its own biases confirmed with snark. This has gone on for decades and if Maher ever had any apt criticism of anything there was never any chance to have him debate anyone seriously. So the guy destroyed his own critical thinking skills a long time ago. This explains lots of actors as well but Maher takes himself seriously as some kind of Ubermensch critic. He acts EXACTLY like wokists but he thinks he's beyond them because he disagrees only with some of the details like "trans" and so forth. So he is smarter than the average wokist but he's just as dogmatic and I would even say a cultivated idiot. And comedy is all about exploiting tropes for entertainment. But Maher actually believes in these tropes. You can tell with this video that he's serious about all of the things he's ever said. Sane comics know that they're stretching or even rhetorically inverting reality for comic effect. Maher doesn't.

People only think that he's smart because, first, that's what they are told, and second, when comics say stupid things that make us laugh we want to think that we're laughing because we have a shared truth of some kind. That's the entire story about Bill Maher. It's not that hard to understand if you consider what I wrote and realize that you can build a career on snark that makes the audience feel superior without really saying anything intelligent.

@user-cg7dg7uv8f His cognitive dissonance is rooted in the fact that he believes that cognitive dissonance and "acceptance" are all that there is and that he just chose a team to run with as he "evolved" in to adulthood. And his team is losing. Destroying itself.

He thinks "MAGA" aka "Capitalist Patricians" are the problem and he's angry that Jacobin Marxists can't "...assign them to the dustbin of history". But he's so stupid that he doesn't even know he's a post modern Leninist. Post modernism is best understood by reading Dawkins the "biologist" and paying attention to his rants about 'selfish gene' and 'meme' theories. Which is to say that there is know meaning to anything and individuals can't hope to come up with truth or even scientific conclusions. Only woke science communities can ascertain some kind of effective (for evolution) truth or "science" conclusion that is a placeholder for the next evolved truth meme. The reason these people panic so much is that they're also aware that in spire of all their confidence that they also believe that their own rhetoric is also meaningless. That is why they're always panicking so hard to get their enemies to stop believing. Their "evolutionary strategy" is to "swarm" their perceived rivals to get them to stop believing and stop reproducing. This is how an intellectually honest Richard Dawkins would explain woke politics. And in private Richard Dawkins can be reasoned with to a large degree. That's why he's been so quiet during the Trump the Fascist epoch.

@jackashe3971 So we can agree that Maher takes delusional Marxist leftist "critical" tropes and applies these agitprop tropes to those that fight the Marxist left. So, what does that make Maher? In my calculations that makes him a delusional woke leftist that thinks he's condemning woke because it can't win elections in dominant fashion. He still wants then to win. And he wants critics of the left to go away.

She doesn't think that, actually. The hivemind and their talking points have standards that shift in accordance with each group. So for an idiotic woke lawyer she ran the perfect template for First Black Female Woke President. In theory. What Joy and other wokists are crying about is that their faith in their theories is getting destroyed by terrifying increase in cognitive dissonance. @Scaash So, you don't believe Forest Gump's mother? What makes him smart? There's zero evidence, actually. He has the same class of academic credentials that Kammy has. And what "post graduate" body of work can he refer to in order to support the argument that he's above average? Most "elite" leftists are, at best, hitting the mid 90s in IQ. Depending on how you model the "IQ" statistics you can move them up by grouping all of the woke idiots together. That makes them appear "average" among the college indoctrinated, but OK. So these are the people that supposedly as a class are brighter than all of their critics. Too many many people buy in to this abject BS. And the only thing that has improved over time in "Western" academia is the lab sciences. Because we have a lot of money to spend on superb lab equipment. So, FDR's "New Deal" didn't do much for anyone but the Arsenal of Democracy funded the Manhattan Project. And that is basically the pivotal event that made the USA the premier place for material science-based engineering. People just like to assume that we have some Ubermensch thinkers in that generation that spawned a bunch of freaking "evolved" geniuses sometimes known as Baby Boomers. Think again.
