The full blown Communists established a strong wing in the Democratic Party by the time of the 1968 DNC convention. They got investigated by the Nixon administration and big media helped the DNC turn Republicans in to perceived Nazis. Reagan was the first President since Nixon to denounce the Soviet Union and he just assumed China would follow the Russians if they turned "democratic". Tiananmen Square was their answer to that and then we gave them Bill Clinton. So the pattern established by FDR and Stalin continues up until this day but Bill Clinton (probably driven by Hillary) turned to the CCP since the Soviet Union had dissolved.
