Starting wars is not hard. That doesn't make it smart.

@marijnnn4992 I think they still call it the British Commonwealth. I see they now call it the Commonwealth of Nations. Commonwealth is kind of an archaic term. A commonwealth is similar to a republic but it's OK to have a monarch as long as you have an elected legislature. That's what I see they all have in common. I think this dates back to the Orange Revolution where the English Parliament went to war with Charles I and killed him with the intention of abolishing the monarchy in the UK. When Parliament reestablished the monarchy they also established a new balance of power with basically unlimited powers to legislate and in fact to recall and get rid of any future monarch by majority vote. Commonwealth originally meant something like public good. The monarchy did not give up its lands and wealth so it retained its own but at the same time Parliament could also run its budget for "the public good". In reality the difference between a true republic and a commonwealth is private property rights and particularly mineral rights associated with private land ownership. From a PR point of view, republic harkens back to the Roman Republic and "commonwealth" harkens back to the Orange Revolution I already mentioned. And some US States fashion themselves as republics and others as commonwealths. The Commonwealth of Nation implies that the overarching group has some collective sovereignty on its own and this is because many of them have on paper the British Monarch has having some kind of role in the nation's existence.

BRIC or BRICS.

@schiftymapping This is a proxy war. And worst of all is that it is Western leftist parties that want to get Russia. For what? Are they now anticommunist? No. They're angry at Russia for dissolving the Soviet Communist empire. And the CCP surreptitiously goads them in to attacking Russia as "fascist" as if the CCP is not also textbook Fascist other than copying Mussolini's uniforms and icons. Leftists invented fascism, terrorism, and all of these paranoid "bogey man" political doctrines.

There's only one nation, one party, actually, that benefits from the slow destruction of Russia. Do any of you clowns know which party that is? All of the childish warmongering comments are pathetic. Even John Bolton has gone over the edge of clear-minded sanity.

Europe is full of dirty players and has been since long before Putin was born. It's never really been stable since the French Revolution.

In any venue that suggests it operates in accordance with "law" (and that includes treaties) there is something called clean hands doctrine. Nobody has clean hands here. Triggering a NATO response would be insane. It's already involved too much with all of the stupid provocative talk. If Joe Biden still had his brain functioning (not sure he ever did) then he would be the first one to blame here.

@noname72390 This is closer to WWII than to WWI. Other than the weapons involved. IT's paranoia all around and slow boil provocations brought us here, still without many people realizing who benefits from all of these provocations and weapons launched, not to mention death and destruction.

Thank Biden for what?

@TomReitano I think what Putin is figuring out is that Stalin was not too bright. It was apparently Stalin's decision to give nuclear weapons to the CCP. If not for that the world would be very different today. Putin is not "afraid" of NATO. He's afraid of the CCP that is encircling Russia.

@AHusBandWifEO Every Western power has at least half of its "democratic" leaders employing "Social Darwinist" doctrines. You know, progress comes from "selective pressures" and "survival of the fittest". So, therefore, war is good for progress (is what many believe and say only in off the record comments).

There is no legitimate role for NATO in Ukraine. That ship has sailed. And worse is that they have been playing games since the Soviet Union fell.

@goranstajic2600 Turkey is not an EU member so there is no conflict with it joining BRICS. NATO is a "self defense" treaty. If the other NATO countries in Europe had any brains they'd realize that if NATO is to have any relevance today it should invite Russia to join it. Russia is no threat to NATO today. There is only one actual threat to NATO today or 2 if you count NK as independent from the CCP. It's disturbing to me how many stupid pundits don't see how all of this Russian demonization among the Western powers favors only the CCP.
