  1. They actually think that it is their job to "lie" or "put on a pretense of objectivity" to "lift of voices of the Oppressed". It's a cult. It's not from law school originally. It's from the Jacobin cult that drove the French Revolution and refined by Marx who also considered Darwin's nature study as circular argument that the Bible is full of lies and therefore all who have inherited wealth and power in "Christendom" obtained it illegitimately. This is why they have such animus both for "the rich" that are not "woke" and for Christians that they feel are suffering from cognitive dissonance (AKA "God Delusion") and that everyone that disagrees with them is either biased by their own selfish interests or this inherent delusion. This is to say that US Progressives suffer from Ubermensch delusion. It's fed to them through "Social Darwinism" philosophically and through "Critical Theory" as a kind of pseudoscience. Questioning Critical Theory is like questioning Darwin, Climate Change, endless demands for "Social Justice" wealth transfers and other interventions and so forth.

  2.  @cajunstrat  They're taught that they're Special Elites AKA Brain Trusts and now just "woke". This means that they are "whisperers for the voiceless Oppressed people" that they can't ever meet. They have a duty to "lift up those voices" of people Oppressed by Power and so forth. All stories without any factual basis. They act like they're freeing slaves when all they do is look for ways to get rich off of foreign labor arbitrage and taxing US citizens to the hilt while also taking "donations" so that their buddies can get fat government contracts and some tax breaks. Or in the case of big tech they avoid getting split up. And they also get fat government contracts from us and our rivals. These would be seen as problematic in terms of national security but that was before Bill Clinton. Bush went along in order to "fight the terrorists".
