  1. Steam engines were the biggest step for industry and mass transit. The Diesel engine is probably still the best play unless you want to experiment with safe hybrids. Turbocharged diesels make great ICE's to drive hybrid vehicles. They never have promoted the best ideas. They (Marxists of all stripes) promote the best ideas for social engineering and central planning.
