  2. We'd be there already except that we still have a platform war going on. If all "applications" are HTML compliant that means it matters a whole lot less whether you go with Android, Apple, Linux, MS, or some other player that can emerge. It's better for end users if that happens but don't count on it any time soon.

  3. Some users buy flagship and mid-priced devices for games, others for multitasking while the phone has many apps in "listening" modes. That's the main reason SOC producers can't create a linear upgrade scale. They'd shoot themselves in the foot if they started to say this is perfect for everything but games or this is the best gamer SOC for the price but it will start to slow down when you have apps running in the background. This is not unlike the days of early multicore CPUs and high-end video cards that had to support certain gaming protocols. The development forks confused many people. But this time they're all integrated into discrete packages. Perhaps following they'll start selling "gamer" phones with upgraded video ICs. I never thought anyone would be serious about gaming but many sure are.

  4. Invented the business model of dumping products? LOL. Actually, I have a Note 4 (3 GB RAM) and a Mi Pad 2. They're both pretty good. But I have no problem looking at other brands. There's nothing to keep me loyal. I now need a small, light, ~6" phone with gobs of RAM (4+) and a powerful processor to keep everything running smoothly. Xiaomi doesn't really have anything like that right now that I can preview. I'll check the store in Singapore on my next trip but I'll look at every other viable brand as well. I want to demo the Asus 6" phone and a few others. I might even look at the Samsung (I think A9).

  5. I'd like a 5.5" or larger Windows 10 phone to try out but there aren't any decent models that I can find.
