  2. Man. Nuclear weaponry is such a hideous and evil thing...yet also, the threat of their use has served many times over to prevent out of control escalation in many conflicts. I certainly wish we could have a world where they no longer existed, but that would require friend and foe alike on all sides agreeing to that and keeping their word. Unfortunately, this is not likely to be a sustainable thing. Thus, the only real long term way is to develop the most powerful and allow that to be the negotiating tool if need be.
