@scotthunter4253 "You're believing in capitalism that would destroy our quality of life." May I ask what kind of device you are communicating from?
15
@So One Business owners are not obligated to pay you for "hard work". They pay you what the job is worth...unless you get paid on commission. Let me ask you this, while you demand the business owner pay you more, are you willing to incur the financial risk when the business cycle dips and profit dips with it?
10
@scotthunter4253 Show me a millionaire or billionare (un-inherited) that has not helped many people along the way. Just one person. I'll wait.
10
g College degree apparently means she's totes serious bro...
9
@scotthunter4253 So the solution is to put our trust in the government? We are supposed to trust that they will be good, honest, uncorrupt, efficient, and trustworthy? Sir, I don't mean to make fun of you, but that is laughable. I beg you to point me to any government in history that has been "good and honest".
8
Iunno....seems more immoral to consider yourself worthy of dictating when someone has "too much".
7
@scotthunter4253 Yeah, they can no longer afford to pay for a many things. Namely their military. We foot MUCH of that bill. Also, economically speaking, they are very Capitalist. Go on...
7
@tansiian Pretty simple answer. What's the least amount of money I'd have to pay to have this part of my business function? Take a cash register. Requires basic math skills, very basic reading skills, and that's about it. No specialties, no further education to consider, just basic skills any teenager can have. Therefore....min wage is about what you pay.
6
Nope. Just entertaining to hear an actual politician say "So like, billionaires are like bad cause like you shouldn't have a nice car while like someone else doesn't like have one. And like the wealthy are like immoral for like having a helicopter and stuff." That just makes me laugh...REALLY hard.
5
@robertdurbin502 What is disgusting about not throwing the baby out with the bathwater? If your point is corruption in Capitalism, I must ask if you thing Democratic Socialism is immune to corruption? And if not, what does it look like under that form of governance? My initial guess is FAR worse than it looks under capitalism...

Does this ad not, by default, recognize there are two genders?
4
The important factor is that you CHOOSE to drive for Uber. If you accepted making $8.42/hr as a taxi driver...that's your own terrible mistake. Not a billionaires. Go find a better job. Problem solved...
4
@sylverpau That is quite a conclusion! Sure you didn't sprain an ankle making that jump? My entire comment...and you found fault with the car?
4
The message of this ad is literally "Hey white dudes, we still hate you, but we have a nice chair around back for you if you vote for Harris..."
4
@zcmini000 so..........Make yourself more valuable than $7.25/hr. Problem solved.
4
@introduire Take your comment and then answer me this. Do you work if no one provides the machines with which you work? The answer is no. Yes, as an employee, you create wealth for the company a d this the owner. But you wouldn't even have the paycheck to begin with had the owner not incurred the risk to create said job for you. As an employee, you incur no risk in the game. You fill out an application. You get hired. You collect a check, regardless of how the business is doing. If you get fired or quit, you simply find another job. The person who owns the place you work for incurred ALL the risk. They have their necks on the line with investors, they incur risk with shrinkage, they don't get to skip their bills and business expenses when times are rough....they still have to pay even if they aren't making profit. As an employee, you punch a clock and get a check. Of course the owner should make much more. They shoulder 100% of the risk, they get far more reward.
4
@robgoren8628 I'm not saying crony Capitalism doesn't exist, it does. However, the answer is not trashing all of Capitalism as a result....
4
@hitchhiker8798 Ahh, so you demand of others what you refuse to do yourself. Figures.
4
So, a society with billionaires is immoral....yet those same billionaires are the hinge on which her entire tax plan hangs.....where does the money come from if you eliminate the billionaires?
4
@spongebobspongebob24 Why did the target become billionaires? Why not millionaires? Who draws the line at which your income becomes "too much"? And when did it become a morally correct position to decide an individual has too much money and proceed to take it from them at gunpoint (i.e. tax)? That is about the least moral thing one can espouse. It requires the prejudged idea that because they have the word billion in their financial status, they MUST have stolen from others...how is that rational?
4
@spongebobspongebob24 My dude, AOC said herself in the first TWO SECONDS of the video....our current society does not make it moral to be a billionaire. Some would interpret that to mean a moral society shouldn't have billionaires until the playing field is much more level. She then proceeds to explain how a vast majority of the money needed to fund all these programs must come from the billionaires that shouldn't exist in this society anyways. My issue is that she wants to eliminate that I'm balance on the high end....but also requires it to sustain all the programs...that is a problem...
4
How do ya do? (In typical manly Boston accent..."
4
@tansiian and I might add, if they are admittedly putting it offshore to avoid tax...how can you be so sure they will happily fork over 70%? What do you do if they don't pay it?
3
@introduire ......I ..I don't even know where to begin. The fact that you, for some crazy reason, see having private property as theft means there is no common ground to be found anywhere else. To that point, the logical opposite idea is that government should eliminate private property....and that is Communism....
3
@oliverlaw02 A few things: You'd have to show me where these companies are legally allowed to slaughter women....in the meantime I'd point out that these companies employ (and thus provide for) 10's of thousands of people if not more. It seems your ideology requires seeing a very dark world around every possible corner. I see women in the workforce they fought to get in to....you see a bloody slaughter house....odd.
3
@hitchhiker8798 Mhmm. So, point me to a CEO that does absolutely nothing for their company...Furthermore, if a CEO does absolutely nothing, then start your own business, make yourself CEO and be the example you demand everyone else be. Fair?
3
But you aren't to pay attention to her utter stupidity because, as she said, she's morally right. Who cares if she has no idea what she's talking about? She means well. Kinda scary right?
3
@mrlahey8855 And it's quite easy for many more...what's your point?
2
@mrlahey8855 I never said quite. The general idea is that you don't actually quit until you get hired on somewhere else. Schedule interviews on your days off, whatever it takes....not that hard.
2
@link3567 That’s the reality of a job. Any job.
2
@link3567 I’ve always been a worker, and my family has always eaten. Only time that wasn’t the case was when I refused to get a job cause I was depressed. That was about 10 years ago. Aside from that, there’s never been a point where I couldn’t eat.
2
So you are saying greed is not demanding another mans money at gun point (i.e. tax), but rather that man likely emptying his life savings as a risk that reaped a nice reward for his family?
2
@introduire Well, we have established you are a Communist. Well done. I am confident that Comrade Sanders and Comrade Cortez are super proud. Remember me when the gulags become common place my friend!
2
@robertdurbin502 Cause here's the thing, how does she plan to pay for healthcare? Billionaires! How does she plan to pay for education? Billionaires! How does she pay for UBI? Billionaires. Also, a society with that has billionaires is immoral....explain that please?
2
@cbates3716 DING DING DING! You hit the nail on the head. In a way it is slavery. But then again, $30/hr is still slavery so long as your hours are demanded in exchange for $30. Ask any doctor. Sure they make $100k+/yr....but how much do they see their families? The oy possible way to obtain time and money, which is presumably what you want to see...is to own your own business and hire others to operate it. Make no mistake, that business owner breaks their back getting the ball rolling. Countless 18 hr days, making sure every plate is spinning. But they do that KNOWING they will get their time back. Even the equivalent of $30/hr becomes FAR more valuable when you no longer have to sacrifice irreplaceable hours for it. SO, we are left with one of two options. The government intervenes, eliminates the personal freedom of every successful business owner by stealing their money at gun point so others don't have to work......or make it easier for others to start their own business and create something for themselves, their kids, and grandkids to live off of. I'll take freedom personally.
2
@argophontes So Bill Gates exploited people to get as wealthy as he is? He didn't say....create a product that revolutionized the world? God, I hope you don't use technology...wouldn't want you being exploited in any way ya know...
2
Generic comment for the win. No self respecting person loves this at all. Self loathing people perhaps, but self respecting...not a chance.
2
mmmmmm well we underestimate her in a way that is similar underestimating just how stupid someone can be. We think we have reached the peak...and yet she keeps on climbing...
1
And if Trump happens to win, we will 100% see just how much Democrats are (not) against debauchery. Hint: DC was in flames the first go round when he won.
1
@link3567 If you assume my case is the only one. Or one of a few. But there are plenty of people in the same position. Biggest thing that helps me is learning proper money management. Budgeting, holding to the budget, etc. And finding a better job if need be.
1
@link3567 Ehh...min wage is not designed to support a family. It’s designed to provide some cash for a high school kid. I have no degree, and I’ve only worked mon wage once. As a teen. I’ve made well over since.
1
@link3567 Point got past Ya I suppose. That point is, if I, with no degree at all, can do it...there’s not many who shouldn’t be able to. Besides that, the very nature of a job keeps one just behind the 8 ball. It’s not meant to get you ahead.
1
@I-am-korean92 But they have made over the preferred dollar amount prescribed by Socialists, therefore...immoral. I know, weird...
1
@tan116A So....now it's not even the fault of the billionaire for being a billionaire? It's the systems fault?
1
@hitchhiker8798 I take it you aren't a CEO.
1
@Ace Shadows I agree with you about kindness and helping people. You can clearly see that it is still very alive and well every time a GoFundMe story goes viral. Side note: A government forcing an individual to fork over their money at gun point (yes gun point, because if you don't pay a tax, men with guns come take you away), is not "kindness and generosity"... it's evil no matter how you slice it. If you need proof, just consider how you would feel if you were forced, with threat of jailing, to hand your neighbor the money you earned...
1
@introduire I said that because what this is promoting is textbook Lenninism. And as Lennin famously put it....the goal of Socialism is Communism....so, happy to know you will support said gulags...
