Have to confess, I am at a loss to explain how Gollum survived his fall into Mount Doom.

What a pratt.

@LynnMarie-v2f So each country spends a fortune looking at diseases on every continent and developing their own procedures rather than pooling information. Sensible!

@8xRedMonkeyx8 Just trying to keep you out of jail mate.

Nothing, neither should be on the pavement.

Anything "traditional" has to go, our country is doomed.

@alvanrigby6361 I'm no expert on these matters by any means, but I would doubt that the Trafalgar's have much hull life left.

@seneby1 Not for quite a few years, they will have to build up infrastructure and operational experience first. Expect to see Aussie submariners on exchange postings to US or UK facilities and boats first.

@wallybingbang9892 In what sense, paired with whom?
1
@wallybingbang9892 I believe they found that they got on quite well professionally, which is why I used them as an example.

@barbaraneville5036 How many people never watch a live broadcast though?

We used to run eleven Magnox nuclear reactors. Had we maintained that number and upgraded them to Sizewell B PWRs (or equivalent) we would have the capacity to generate around 13.1GWe. That equates to 45% of the UKs average demand in 2020. Renewables provided another 27% with imports and other non-fossil sources at a little under 5%. I would much rather we were looking at reducing our fossil fuel dependence from 25% than the current 39%.

Pardon?

@Robert_DeVille That's not an easy question to answer. There is much that could be done to improve the performance of renewables (molten salt storage capacity for one) to even out their supply. Traditional nuclear has relied on a small number of large reactors running at full capacity to provide even base load. This is not necessarily going to be the case going forward and newer technologies allow for smaller reactors with the capacity to "load follow" What this means is that it will become much easier to run nuclear and renewable energy in a more synergistic fashion. Another important feature of the newer Gen IV reactors is their ability to run at higher operating temperatures. This gives them the ability to both generate electricity and to provide direct heat for industrial production and space heating. As a direct answer to your question though, the peak (electrical) energy demand for the UK (~38GWe) could be met by 32 reactors of the size of Sizewell B.

@Robert_DeVille Enlighten me with your superior knowledge then.

@Robert_DeVille Did you pull your last comment? I received a notification but it has vanished?

Did they have a license?

If that's what is required then he will either lock down or be locked up. His choice.

@karlmunford7000 Why bring religion and Islam into this? Christianity hardly has an unblemished record in this area.
