Wanting to move to cleaner energy sources is common sense, it's destroying the world economy to do it that is the problem. He spoke a lot of sense on that issue.

@richardgallagher4880 How dumb are you?

@JamesThompson-p4r Because it could be brought about without destroying the world economy if control were removed from the hands of fanatics.

@edbaker515 Develop some common sense dude. Setting aside the whole "global warming" issue, there are many reasons to transition away from fossil fuel use where practicable. We saw in the early years of the industrial revolution what effect the widespread burning of coal had on pollution levels and general health. Fossil fuels are a finite commodity and have a wide range of uses, why waste them by burning them to generate energy when other alternatives exist? There are places in the world where renewables alone can provide energy self-sufficiency; wind & solar backed by hydro or geothermal. Why would a country not use them and continue to burn fossil fuels? Nuclear offers access to clean, abundant energy, even when using current inefficient reactor designs. The case for an eventual move away from fossil use is a strong one. The question is, "Is global warming real and do we have to break our economies to counter it?" I happen to believe that it is real but I do not believe that we (and the UK in particular) have to approach it like headless chickens. We do need to act though.
