Well that is true. If a manned alien vessel did make it to earth their technology would be so far advanced we would be slaughtered in any conflict.

@fossils-z9d You seriously believe that any ICBM strike by either Russia or the US will not trigger an attack by both sides? Regardless of the intended target.

@markvick6138 Once the nukes start to fly all sides will fire, simply because they will not know who the intended target is until it is too late. A missile flying towards China could equally be targeting a Russian ICBM complex or city.

@fossils-z9d They might if they are not certain that the weapons are heading towards China. A missiles flightpath can not be confirmed until it is past its boost phase. Given the short flight times involved and the time it takes to launch their own response, they might not be able to wait for that confirmation.

@fossils-z9d It would only take a minor adjustment to the flight profile of a rocket to change its target destination by hundreds of miles. Considering its payload, would you wait to be sure? Also, would the US hit only China in a first strike? China has ICBMs of its own, which would be targeted at US cities. The US would have to take all of those launchers out in that first strike, which would require a large launch. Such an event would likely be seen as a direct threat by the Russians. If they did not take out all of China's launchers then the effects of the counterstrike on US cities would be devastating and destroy the US economy. The US would lose its superpower status to Russia in the process.
