  9. The missile has a range of 8km and was designed to be carried by naval helos as a counter to small boat swarms. A Lynx (MH60 equivalent) can carry 20.

As the guy said, he didn't even see the gun fly away, that's what happens when you are stressed. Whose to say he didn't have a backup weapon? If you need to shoot then take the guy out, full stop.
