  3. Now imagine doing this on the old Lombard RAC Rally. The co-driver received a "Tulip diagram" that described each bend on the course but the race lap was their first and only drive through the stage. Add in that the weather back then often included ice and snow, they had night stages and very little rest. Many drivers hated it!
