  2. Italy and the UK operate the F35B, S Korea and Singapore have selected them. Few countries have a need for the C variant as they are intended for carrier operations.

  9.  @davem2369  The one credible argument in favour of the decision to drop CATOBAR from the QE's is that the ships have no steam generation system installed. The propulsion system uses electric motors and there were doubts on the reliability of EMALS (which the Ford has found to its cost). I still wish that they had gone with the system though.

  10. Weak stealth capability compared with the F35 and only cheaper on paper. Don't forget, it was too heavy to take off vertically in clean configuration as produced.

  13.  @dickmelsonlupot7697  The same can be said for fusion power. That has taken over fifty years and is still not available. Designers counter the technology that exists now, not what might exist in the future.

  14.  @dickmelsonlupot7697  Fusion research has been well funded, it's just bloody hard to achieve. Current stealth technology will be degraded and likey rendered ineffective over time, but that time is not now. Newer multi-spectral stealth technologies will be developed in response, that is what happens in all defence fields.
